Ouch! but for a good cause...
Its been a while since I've blogged. Shame on me.
Lots been going on. Seems that I've either been at work bored out of my mind or in front of my sewing machine or at an event. Its been an exciting few months and only fixing to become moreso.
Today I gave blood. Almost a year ago my work sponsored a blood drive. Now that Carter Blood Care has my info they've called me for donations before. I've been a not good person and kind of ignored them in the past but last week when they called I decided to set up an appointment. So after work I ran to the center and donated a pint. My veins are apparently quite deep. I was beginning to think they were drilling for oil. But it was non eventful after they got me all hooked up. They asked if I was willing to be a red cell donor. I asked if that was platelets and they said no, it was different. And get this...they aren't looking for 'female platelet donors' right now. Who knew there was a difference in male and female platelets...I sure didn't.
So now my arm is sore. But I feel like I got my good citizen card punched this week. Now if I can just guilt Clint into donating next time too.
Off to Queen's Champion this weekend. We were going to go down Friday night. However, Clint was offered extra hours because his office is finishing up UA testing before a release (programmer speak...don't ask me). And since he's on contract and has no paid vacation or holidays, making up the Monday the office was closed for Memorial Day isn't really something we can say no to. Especially due to the amount of eventing we have been/will be doing.
I'm crossing my fingers that my boss lets me off for 2 days so I can trip up to Lillies. I'm trying to play the "Well...I'm not taking a whole week off for Pennsic War...so how about 2 days for a different war?" card. With hope, it will work. I'm bummed to not be going to Pennsic. Clint is going and it will be his first....so I'd really love to go to and show him around. But I just can't afford that week off work without pay (saving all my vacation for something else coming down the pipe). The up side is, maybe I get to go to Lillies which is a war I've never been to in a Kingdom I've never been to either. Bonus points all around.
This has turned into a significantly longer post than I intended. Guess its time for me to wrap it up and relax a little more before heading to bed.
So....in closing...go donate blood if you can. Someone needs that pint a lot more than you do!
