Sonnet For _ _ _ _ _ _

"I'm not into anything too kinky or, you know, weird,"

she said, "I just like a guy who really knows

what he wants and someone who isn't too scared

to try new things and who will bring me a rose

every once in a while; is that too much to ask?"

She needs to vent and so I give her my shoulder:

we're close that way and so I have to wear a mask

around her; see, she likes the fact that I am older

and that I've been around the block a few times.

She must never know my heart is an excellent liar,

so I cloak myself in wit and charm and foolish rhymes

all the time; my god, I want her, but I know she is fire.

Like a fool I've come close to showing my hand;

if only she knew I was hers to command!
