Chapter 12 Chapter 13
It was a rather warm, pleasant day, not one of those horrible, sweltering humid days where clothes stung to a person like plastic wrap and one felt sticky all over. Right now though, he was indoors, enjoying the cool air conditioning of the international terminal. Changmin was dressed up slightly with a short-sleeved, blue button down shirt and khaki shorts. He knew it was on the slightly preppy side, but he wanted to look good and a little more polished than his usual getup.
He scanned the doors for the hundredth time, eagerly looking whenever the tinted glass doors opened. But it kept being other people each time. He sighed. He looked over to see a little girl in her stroller next to him, rather cute with her big brown eyes. He smiled. She stared. And then proceeded to turn away abruptly. Changmin sighed. Maybe it was a sign -- that he wasn't cut out to be a dad. Or something. Changmin was definitely getting distracted and glared at the doors, willing them to open and produce him a Jae.
A heated breath against his neck was his only warning when Jae whispered in his ear, "I've missed you, boyfriend."
Changmin yelped and jumped, (Jae would later say "screamed like a little girl," but this was Changmin's story) almost smacking Jae in the process.
"Sheesh Min, can't you greet me better than that?" Jae was smirking entirely too much and Changmin growled. He grabbed Jae and gave him a big bear hug.
"Missed you too," Changmin nuzzled into Jae's neck. He knew he couldn't be overly affectionate, but already he was craving for the sweet, slightly musky, comfortable scent of Jae and his warm presence. "So much."
"Me too. And you look so good." Jae's voice had gone lower, husky and tempting.
"Jae!" Changmin groaned.
"Let's go home, shall we?" Jae winked.

"Wait, you DROVE? Oh gods." Jae stared at him and the car as if they were two completely foreign objects that should never be combined.
"Hey! I'm a good driver. I've been practicing." Changmin resisted the urge to hit Jae's arm.
"Fine, fine. Just don't kill me okay?"
"It'll be fine! I drove here. And I've been driving all around town too. Look, still alive."
Jae looked at him dubiously, but started laughing at Changmin's pout.
"I'm just joking. I'm sure you're more than capable. You can drive and ride me anytime, babe."
"Horrible Jae, just awful." But Changmin fought the urge to blush.
"Aw come on, you know it's part of my charm."
"Sure, sure. Anyway, you ready? I want to beat the traffic."
Changmin felt he was more than proficient as he noted that Jae did not reach once for the upper handlebar above his window. In either case, the ride was smooth and there were no sharp turns, harsh stops, or annoyed honks.
It took about two hours to get from the airport, and Changmin would find himself glancing over to Jae, who was animatedly talking about the new restaurants he had been to in France, the old bookstore he used to go to when he was younger, and meeting all his old friends again. He was bubbling, rambling, excited and lively. Changmin felt more subdued, letting it all flow through him.
It felt good. Jae was back.
