He was in the bookstore, trying to find if there were any used copies of the Physics book. It had been somewhat troublesome to find the Physics section; it was tucked away passed the Econ section and hidden by other bookshelves. Pushing the new, plastic wrapped books aside, Min was digging through the stack when he finally spotted two used copies. He was about to reach for one when suddenly another hand reached for the same book and touched his hand.

"Sorry, were you about to get that book?" a voice said.

Changmin looked up to see a rather serious looking guy with glasses standing next to him. His hair was spiked slightly and he was dressed on the preppy side. Despite his dress though, he seemed younger than Changmin.

"Actually, there are two copies so I think we can both get it," Changmin said. He reached for the top copy to hand over to the student while grabbing the second copy under it.

"Thanks," the guy said quietly. The boy seemed shy, almost nervous and Changmin couldn't help but feel a sense of brotherly concern. Anyway, he did say he wanted to meet people in his class.

"Are you taking Physics 3 too?" Changmin asked, hoping to make a friend.

"Um, yes. Pre-med requirements and all. Yeah."

"Me too! Yeah, I wanted to make sure I wouldn't overbook myself like I did this semester. Six classes is just too much," Changmin smiled.

"Y-you took six classes?" the boy looked shocked.

"Yes, and one of them was Orgo. I know, tell me about it. By the way, I'm Shim Changmin. What's your name?"

"Kim Kibum."

Changmin learned that Kibum was a freshmen (as he suspected) but was in fact, older than him. "Took a year off," Kibum had said, not really going into any more detail. Changmin didn't push him, just asked general friendly questions like what his major was and where he was living. Kibum was quiet, but he seemed nice enough and when he smiled, his whole face changed.

"I'll see you in class next Tuesday. We could be homework buddies, you know?" Changmin knew he was gushing slightly, but it always helped to have study buddies for science classes. One could only suffer alone for so long, as he had learned in Orgo.

"U-uh, sure. Yeah. No problem." Kibum smiled timidly, which Changmin was finding utterly adorable. Almost like a little kid.

He grabbed his bike, unlocking it from the rack and heading towards Kyuhyun's apartment. Kyuhyun had settled in with a couple of his friends in a house near the library and had sent Min his address earlier that morning. He was enjoying biking around campus greatly; it definitely made things faster and cooler than walking all the time.

He soon came upon a row of three decker houses, some looking more dilapidated than others.

"125, 127, 129…131! Here we go." Min came to a blue and white house, with a small porch and some chairs. He noticed Kyuhyun's car parked in the driveway, confirming that he was indeed, standing in front of the right door. He pushed the doorbell.

"Changmin! How are you? Nice of you stop by. We're just about to do a round of Halo -- want to join?"
"Sure!"

Min was finding himself sorely challenged, but his sniping skills were still just as good as ever. He was currently playing with Shiwon and Shindong against Sungmin, Kyuhyun, and Yehsung.

"And the flag is secured!!" Shindong whooped with joy as Shiwon and Min high fived.

"Aw man, they're killing us~" Sungmin whined.
"Next round! Next round!" Yehsung looked fierce and determined.
Kyuhyun just laughed.

After an intense battle and much thumb abusing, Min begged for a break. His fingers were sore and he still needed to run some errands.

"Meet anyone in your class yet?" Kyuhyun asked him, as Min fixed himself some juice.
"Mmm, not really. Oh, this Kibum character who's in my class. Seems nice enough, but somewhat shy."
"I should've taken physics in the summer -- it definitely would've made my first semester a LOT more bearable."
"Hey, I thought you were the math genius..? Shouldn't physics have been the easiest of all the science courses for you?" Min teased Kyuhyun.
"Okay, so I could teach myself a lot of stuff. But you know how my schedule was in the fall -- very little free time. The only good thing is, I'm done with most of my requirements now. Thank god physics had exams. I can't stand courses with research papers."

"Anyway, how're you holding up without your Jaejoongie around?" Kyuhyun nudged Min's side.
"It's okay I guess," Min sighed a little. "I miss him so much sometimes and other times I'm so busy I don't even have time to think about it. I think nights are the worst."
"I'm sure they are."
"Oh stop giving me that dirty look. Anyway, it's just three more weeks and then I'll get to see him!" Min grinned.
"You're so lovestruck sometimes, it's ridiculous."
"Just wait until it hits you, Kyuhyunnie, just you wait."

His first lecture was a definite surprise to say the least. The lecture hall, which he was so used to being full and bustling, only held thirty students at most. The professor was a short, slightly nervous seeming man, but seemed nice enough and thankfully without any accent. He noticed Kibum sitting on the side and had sat down next to him. Kibum looked surprised at first, but just smiled.

Changmin quickly delved into his physics, and his professor was very good at explaining all the points. Things were going fairly smoothly, and he had even picked up some shifts at the library. At nights, he usually hung out with Kyuhyun's gang and wrote e-mails to Jae. Sometimes Jae would answer, but mostly he sent postcards as he kept hopping from place to place. Min put each one up on the wall.

He found that his physics class was relatively easy to follow and he didn't really need to make a study group as the TA hours were enough. But he sometimes hung out with Kibum, doing homework or just hanging out. Kibum was a quiet kind of guy, but his roommate Heechul (who Min still could not figure out why he was Kibum's roommate) was chatty and friendly, with slightly odd quirks. Heechul was an arts student at the Design School, but knew Kibum when they went to high school with each other. Despite the initial crazy meeting (Heechul had greeted him in garishly pink and orange cartoon pajamas, his hair stuck in multiple angles complete with the words "Princess" emblazoned all over his slippers), Heechul was funny and Min soon grew comfortable hanging out with them both.

He kept himself busy, quickly crossing off the days until Jae would come back. But at night, he would often write e-mails. "It's incredibly hot today," he'd write. "We should go to the beach and swim in the frigid water until we feel numb and then bask in the afternoon sun." Or "I wandered around Point Park today, where all the boats are docked and where there's a playground. I felt silly, but found myself swinging, higher and higher, leaning my head back. Do you know they have swings that are tall enough and long enough for my height? I was able to almost hang upside down as the wind rushed through my face and my hair." "I went past by the arcade and had a sudden urge to DDR. I know you laugh at me, my attempts at trying to follow the steps, but I've actually gotten quite good. Shindong's amazingly quick and I'm determined to beat him next time around."

But Min never wrote anything too much about missing Jae, about wanting to have someone he could talk to anytime of the day, about missing their midnight snacks and late night conversations. He didn't want to make things worse and he wanted Jae to enjoy Europe fully. A simple "Miss you! xoxo" or "kisses" was about the extent that Min put in his letters.

He was just e-mailing one such letter to Jae when his AIM dinged at him.

L33tMa+hMaster: Hey Min! We're planning a party this weekend so you should come!
Tensai_kamo: When?
L33tMa+hMaster: Friday night. We'll probably start around 10. Bring anyone you know.
Tensai_kamo: Hmmm. Any specific entertainment?
L33tMa+hMaster: Booze, poker, maybe some Halo. What, you need a Changmin-mini dance corner with techno and strobes?
Tensai_kamo: Hey, c'mon now. Just because you're not the clubbing type.
L33tMa+hMaster: Uh yeah, have you seen me dance? Sometimes you have these cool parts that I just can't believe...
Tensai_kamo: I'm always cool, thank you very much.
L33tMa+hMaster: Sure, sure. Anyway, I gotta go but lemme know if you're coming.
Tensai_kamo: Got it. Thanks.
L33tMa+hMaster: Also? You are a genius. None of this "maybe" stuff on the end. Any way, you're not a duck either.
Tensai_kamo: Thought I'd be seen as an arrogant prick if I didn't add the kamo part.
L33tMa+hMaster: Hah, have you seen my SN?
Tensai_kamo: True.
L33tMa+hMaster: Alright, I'm out.
Tensai_kamo: Night!
(A/N: tensai kamo means "I could be a genius, maybe" in Japanese. Also, "kamo" can mean duck)

Changmin was pensive. Maybe he should invite Kibum and Heechul? Heechul had been complaining about the lack of any suitable men recently, but Changmin just smiled and nodded. Kibum had looked nervous at first at Heechul's words, but looked very relieved when Changmin just said, "Yes, finding the right guy can be hard." Changmin wondered if Kibum had been concerned about how Changmin would react to Heechul's sexuality.

In either case, he figured his friends wouldn't mind meeting Heechul and Kibum. Heck, he knew that Heechul and Shindong would be hilarious together and maybe Kibum would open up a little more? He spoke more now, but he still seemed quiet and reserved at times. Changmin would catch Kibum looking at him sometimes, but Kibum wouldn't say anything, just look slightly nervous and look away.

"Well, it'll be one crazy party, that's for sure," Min said out loud.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Changmin groaned. He was on his fourth tequila shot and Shiwon and Heechul were pushing him to take another. Now, he loved tequila, but he knew it would be hangover city if he took anymore. Begging that he needed to go to the bathroom, he went to the kitchen to grab some food. Mmm, digestion was always good.
"Changmin!" a red-cheeked Kibum greeted him suddenly, and Changmin noticed that Kibum's eyes were very wide and slightly glassy.
"Having a good time?"
"Yeah~Definitely beats studying all the time."
"Of course."
Kibum looked a little out of it, and Changmin noticed that he was sweating somewhat.
"Hey, you alright? Do you need some fresh air?"
"Hmmm? Fresh air? Yeah, that'd be nice," Kibum looked at him adoringly. Changmin frowned slightly.
"Kibum, you ate right? You had some food?"
"Yeah, yeah, I had chips and those things over there," Kibum waved haphazardly towards the snack bowls.
"Hey, let's go outside and eat hmm? You're hungry right? I'm starved."
"Yeah, okay~"
Changmin grabbed some bread and a bottle of water before pushing Kibum downstairs, towards the back porch.
It was much quieter, and Changmin plopped on a plastic lawn chair. Kibum managed to also sit down, albeit with some difficulty. He handed Kibum some bread and pretended to eat some as Kibum slowly gnawed on the fluffy whiteness. He then passed the water bottle, which Kibum swallowed greedily.
"Feels better, no? So much cooler out here too," Min said, hoping to god that Kibum wouldn't get too sick.
"Yeah..." Kibum kept munching and sipping bits of water.
They sat out there for a while, Min watching the stars and the fireflies blink on and off in the summer night while Kibum finished up his food.
"Good! Good stuff." Kibum smacked his lips loudly and grinned at him wide.
Min chuckled a little. Kibum seriously was like a little kid sometimes. He was staring up into the sky when he suddenly felt a warmth peck at his cheek. He froze slightly before glancing to the right to notice that Kibum was standing next to him.
"Thanks you," Kibum said, leaning into Changmin and nuzzling his hair like a curious puppy.
"Uhh, Kibum?" Kibum suddenly had his arm on Changmin's shoulder and began pulling him closer.
"K-k-kibum! What are you doing?" Min gasped out.
"You smell so nice and so good~You like boys right?" Kibum kept nuzzling him, his warm breath puffing against Min's sensitive neck.
Min wanted to scream. Being without boyfriend was rough in all aspects, and to be perfectly blunt, definitely rough when it came to sating lusts and needs. Kibum was not helping Min's current state of withdrawal and his body was definitely naturally reacting.
Trying to calm himself down, he stood up and slowly extricated Kibum's hands off his shoulders. Kibum looked at him with a smirk, a sly grin full of wicked promise.
"Kibum, I'm sorry. I have a boyfriend--" But Kibum's face was already crumpling, and Min couldn't keep going. He awkwardly stood there, wishing he could hug Kibum but not wanting to give mixed messages.
"I'm sorry," Min said again as Kibum's expression turned cold and hard.
Min wished he could make it easier, and if he could, he would leave Kibum in peace. But Min could see that Kibum's steps were still somewhat wavering. He noticed Sungmin in the hallway and waved him over. He looked again at Kibum, who had slumped himself back down on a chair.
"Hey Sungmin, can you just stay here and watch Kibum while I find Heechul? He's a little drunk," Min whispered.
"Okay, but be back soon."
"Thanks, I owe you," and Min slipped into the house to look for Heechul. He could hear Sungmin's voice in the background,
"Yo Kibummie! Needed some fresh air too, feels so good."
Changmin raced up the stairs and squeezed himself through people. He saw Shindong, passed out on a sofa and Kyuhyun entertaining some girls with his card tricks. Ryeowook's no where and he couldn't seem to find Shiwon either until he noticed that the bedroom was slightly open. He knocked, loud.
Shiwon opened the door, glaring before noticing it's him. His expressions softened a little.
"Min! What's up man, you look like you saw a ghost." Min didn't miss the fact that Shiwon's shirt was askew and his lips look slightly red and abused.
"Shit. Sorry Shiwon, I wouldn't bother you but have you seen Heechul anywhere? I need to talk to him and Kibum needs someone to take him home. I'm sorry, I know you're probably busy and all."
"You rang?" If Min felt shitty before, he felt ten times worse at having interrupted Heechul and Shiwon.
"Heechul, look, I'm really sorry but Kibum's not feeling well and I need someone to take him home. I would do it, but he's probably the last person he wants to see right now."
"What did you do?" Heechul's voice was deceptively calm, but Min could feel the anger building and the agitated aura Heechul exuded.
"I... it's not my place to say, definitely not where everyone can hear."
"Changmin, you better tell me what's up and it'd better be a damn good reason," Heechul bit out and Shiwon nodded.
"Heechul, please. I don't need Kibum hating me more than he does know because I disclosed something he probably didn't want to tell anyone until he was absolutely sure of the answer." Min hoped that they would understand.
Something changed in Heechul's expression and his eyes widened.
"Don't tell me... he didn't...Shiwon, I'm sorry, this is an emergency. I have to talk to Min and then I'll take care of Kibum. I'll call you tomorrow, okay?" Heechul looked incredibly apologetic, but Shiwon just shrugged and sighed.
"Alright. I'm trusting you on this. I'm sure whatever it was will get solved."
"Thanks Shiwon."
Min pointed downstairs and they huddled under the stairwell.
"Kibum didn't know I had a boyfriend," Min whispered.
"Shit. I suspected as much... or that he would say something. Where is he?"
"He's on the porch with Sungmin. He's drunk and I just want to make sure he's alright."
"Yeah, no problem. I'll take care of it. Don't worry too much okay? I'm sure you were nice about it," and Heechul left Min in the hallway, as he felt alone and defeated.
"I need to go home," he said, to no one in particular.
