Everything You Do Is Right

Mar 16, 2005 07:30

So today is Everything You Do Is Right Day! Makes a wonderful counterpoint to yesterday, which was Everything You Think Is Wrong Day :) Here's hoping I live up to that, since today's going to be kinda important. Details pending :)

And there was even less reason to toss this behind a cut than yesterday, since if you saw yesterday's you already know what this was :) Yeah, I'm strange like that.

Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday, dear musicwmnvla,
Happy Birthday to you!

What, did you think I would forget? And hey, how cool is it that your birthday is on Everything You Do Is Right Day?

In other news, I think I somehow missed talking about Monday. I swore I wrote something, but maybe I closed the window before posting it? Ah well. Anyway, Monday was a lot of fun. I got to hang out with the_briar_rose for the first time [if you don't count the day I met her at *thinks* the Party of the Scorpios on campus? -Someone's- party, I remember that much, but I'm pretty sure it was Matt's and Kraemers.] We went to Guy's Pizzaria, a very cool little place that is apparently in a shopping center I've been going to for years and somehow never noticed the pizza. Very good food, I'd like to go there again, but I could never give up Godfather's. Very different kind of pizza anyway.

So on to the movies. Robots was first. Had a great fanboy moment, because the Episode III trailer played in front of it :) Very happy, too, that I could share that fanboy moment with someone who isn't a naysayer like some of you *glares around the room* So Robots itself. Holy flying hell, the movie was hysterical! I won't say anything about it, don't want to spoil it for any of you who haven't seen it, but the_briar_rose's comment summed it up best: "That is the most R-rated G-movie I've ever seen." Kid safe, yeah, but I can't imagine a kid having nearly as much fun as we did, because 95% of that movie flew WHOOSH right over their heads.

After that, we went back to her place, stopping at Starbucks, Dark Tower [which deserves a small rant some other time] and Blockbuster to pick up the two movies for the night: Memento and The Village, neither of which I've seen before.

Memento. That movie still blows me away. I'll say even less about this than I did about Robots, because if there's anyone else reading this who hasn't seen it yet, this movie is way too good to spoil. Trust me, if you haven't, and if you appreciate movies that make you think at all, go do yourself a favor and get this. I'm looking forward to seeing it again, on DVD this time, so we can see the special version. Those of you who have seen the movie probably know what I'm talking about; those of you who haven't, don't watch the special version if you rent the DVD. Play the original only.

And the Village. Another absolutely great movie. I know a lot of you hated it, and I know why you say you did now, but I don't understand you hating it. I mean, come on, that ending was great! MNS did not fail to provide a great twist ending, with just enough foreshadowing to guess before it jumps out at you. Two things tipped me off to it, but the first I thought was just an error on the filmmakers. Ask me off LJ if you're curious what it was.

Anyone who saw when I posted that meme ages ago about which movies I've seen knows I haven't seen that many, compared to most of you, so I gotta say I'm really looking forward to catching up:)

birthday
