so last night i went to the store for turkey, swiss cheese and hoagie buns for turkey sandwiches. as i was walking out of the store there was a stand of girl scouts selling cookies. this year was strange, we weren't selling cookies and, for the first time, neither was anyone we knew. my girls weren't in girl scouts last year because it was just too hard to cart them and the baby around since he was so young.
as i was talking to the scout leader about the cookies, Bub was listening via my Bluetooth and he said he recognized her voice. a couple of minutes of where do your kids go to school/who do you talk to questions and we realize that her youngest daughter is in the same class as Honey and this is the troop that Honey has been begging me to sign them up with. the troop meets Tuesdays, but much closer to home than the last troop we were with. the leader is very nice and personable. so i said i would sign up.
i only signed up Nan and Honey. Saru has her own extracurricular stuff and the troop leader said she didn't have any older girls in the troop.
today was the Chinese/Vietnamese New Year parade downtown. we had to park on the street and got lost trying to find it afterwards. Honey was fine during the walking part of the parade but freaked when faced with the cameras and the loud announcers booth. she is doing so much better than when she was young, but she still has a problem with being in public and people looking at her. i need to find the name of it, besides being shy. it's an extreme social problem. but at least she can talk to people outside of the immediate family now.
i am so tired now, but at least the girls (only Nan and Honey tho) are happy. they are in Girl Scouts now, and with a troop that actually does something more than just coloring books and crafts at their meetings. tomorrow is cookie site sales at Walmart here in town. and then again next Saturday. i am so tired.
