i asserted my independence and got a new (used) computer last night. posted on free-cycle and someone responded (thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou Taunia). now i just have to figure out what on there i can delete (don't want to re-format).
no one can tell me not to put something on my computer or refuse to let me use it or threaten to take it away if i make them mad. probably no one understands my glee except -- this is the first computer i could call all mine. mine, mine, not anyone elses.
i still don't know thing one about how they work, but hell, i've surrounded myself in my life with computer people, someone will help me. in fact, Ray says he will swing by and look over my shoulder tonight to see if there is anything he can point out. mwah, Ray.
only downside to this appears to be that i don't have nearly enough RAM. the computer says it has 448MG and even i know that is depressingly low. easy enough to fix, tho.
and for the special occassion, i've bought a brand new special computer magnet to put on the side! (joking, just joking. sorry, little family joke there. pay no mind.)
