"...And I lost Blaze. This is all your fault!"
"You agreed that no matter what happened, you would follow through to save the world. Both of you knew it and brought it upon yourselves."
"B-But--!"
"A pity. Your friend must have known you couldn't be relied on, knowing she'd take the torch for herself. Poor lad."
"No! It's not true! Blaze..."
"Sacrifices must be made for prosperity. Had you considered being alone when peace finally happened? Wishes have consequences. You must choose between what you want and what you desire. Surely you regret your choice."
I killed her. Silver didn't dare mention this thought to Mephiles. He knew fully well that the spirit sensed his guilt and admitting it would be another nail in the heart for him to press. A crystalline claw curved around the white hedgehog's back, causing him to cringe, but was too speechless to budge.
"There there..." Mephiles brushed his muzzle over Silver's lips. Cold and sharp, the white hedgehog caved in, insides coiling as a gut feeling drained away. It was over and Silver stood petrified, every trace of dignity sucked up in a kiss.
"Enjoy your future, Silver." The white hedgehog sunk to the ground and curled himself in a tight ball, ashamed as malicious laughter echoed inside his hollow consciousness.
