So, this is the first time that I’ve updated in a looooooooong time. Yes, that’s long with that many letter o’s. Anywho, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty for those who weren’t aware of what’s been going on. First of all, this is my last semester at the University of Rhode Island, and by December, I will be walking down that fated aisle to get my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Asian Studies. From there, I plan on working at Perspectives, a place that works with children with developmental disabilities, for the summer and time up to next year. Granted, I was hoping I would be with JET this year, but clearly not the time for that. Not a big problem, merely a minor setback.
As for now, I’m exploring options in a few places, including graduate school, graduate school in Japan (yikes), reapplying for JET, and working in the meantime. At least it’s good work that pays well. If I was working at Cumby’s (check out my friends list for the latest rant on Cumby’s from the awesome Mr. Grimm) or some other low-end retail job, I’d probably commit seppuku right now. As it is, not what I was planning, but I’m sure that this is happening for a reason. For instance, with the summer and next year to myself, I’m able to explore these new options, and run some D&D/play in some D&D. Also, I’m really excited to say that I’ll be working on some research this semester with Dr. Harris. This is BIG news to me, as it’s a resume booster without end to the coolness. Plus, it’s an interesting topic that I’m looking forward to fully do.
I’m really hoping that the International Education Office on campus can find a use for me for this year too. With the extra time, I’d like to volunteer/possibly get paid for some help with the incoming students from everywhere for next year. It’s no problem, and as it is, I can take some grad school classes while I’m doing it. Not actually being in a program, but that’s ok. It’s a step in the right direction, which is better than resting on my keester.
Well, other than that, there’s nothing much to say for now. So, I’ll talk to you all later
Peace,
Sean
