The first update in a long freakin' time...

Oh boy, has this been a long time since the last update or what?!? I mean seriously, a month is one thing, but almost two? Unacceptable. So, let's go over some fun stuff for everyone, huh? We'll start with the important stuff. As I'm sure most of you are already aware of, I am alive. No plane crash, no mugging in two major cities, nothing particularly tragic. Well, not mostly, anyways. As usual, a transcontinental flight is murder (hopefully I'll start getting used to the damn things). I came to Boston on June 21 to find no one to pick me up (the family had been having a rough week, from what I've been led to understand). All worked out ok, and the many souvenirs were distributed. I was sad and happy to be back, and definately almost cried when I rode the taxi from the I-house to the airport. It's interesting, being back home. Much like my good French drinking buddy, Sylvain, pointed out, the time in Japan does in some respects feel like a dream. One gets the impression that memories are a little bit harder to lock onto when the place you're in is so completely different. However, every time I think about Japan, I feel a little misty eyed, so let's get away from that for now.

Well, not quite. The next big thing coming up is the exchange students from Seinan, something which I am quite greatful for. Don't get me wrong. I love all of my friends out here too much for words, although I could find some good ones if I really tried. It's just that I really do miss everyone out in Japan, and when the girls and guy come out here, it's going to be really nice to speak Japanese again, and to see some friends that I haven't seen in a few months. Still in the process of e-mailing everyone, though. There are a lot of people that I've kind of left hanging for a month or so because of the overall business and the relative inability to get to a computer that doesn't suck... Also, on the Japanese friends kick, I have some books to send as well as a letter. The letter isn't going to be all that bad, but the box of books is going to put a serious dent in my finances. Sending to Japan is an expensive enterprise. Still, I owe one of them money (which will be traded in book form as English books are somewhat hard to come by), and the other just deserves a letter 'cause she's Okaasan.

So, for all of those who don't know, I have a new job to compliment the new me, as it were. I am now working as a "behavior specialist" with a company called Perspectives. It's the first job I've ever had that even vaguely applied to my chosen career, which is tight. Also, it pays about 150% better than the last jobs I had (not including tutoring in Japan. Tutoring in Japan paid better, but had no hours), which is a wonderful thing. However, working for 3 out of the 7 sections of a company makes for little time off. The most I've been able to get recently is my Saturday afternoons and Sundays off. Just enough time to wash laundry and play D&D

OMFG!!! I can't begin to describe how happy I am to play D&D again!!! It's like a part of me was sewn back on. I'm serious. I work for the freakin' weekends, 'cause that's when I drive to the other end of the state to play D&D with the Burriville boys. (Rob, Ian, and some emo guy that can't get my name straight). I'm playing my first warforged, and a really interesting elf from Dragonlance that I hope I will get to play a little more soon. Just started... On the Dragonlance front, I have bought way too many novels since I got back. It's like I'm trying to make up for the lack of fantasy novel reading in Japan. Well, to be honest, that's about all I can say at this point. Hope to update a little more often in the future, but you know how that goes... Talk to all of you lizzater

Sean
