I can't take my mind off of you...

...till I find somebody new

That's a good song from a good CD.  And they used it in a good movie.  A very good movie.  An excellent movie, in fact.  I may have to purchase said movie when it's released on DVD.  Closer, with Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Clive Owens, and Natalie Portman.  The characters were so incredible, so realistic - none where wholly good or bad, and each was a victim and victimizer in turn.  It's the type of movie that stays with you after it's over and you keep thinking about...

Anyway, I could keep talking about that, but I'll move on.  I just wanted to share some of the other highlights from this weekend.  I'll try to keep it short...

MIT Museum - quite interesting (and free the 3rd Sunday of each month!  hehe).  And it's small, so much more manageable than the Museum of Science, if you don't want to do museum stuff all day.  I loved some of the art stuff they had, by an engineer/artist guy (can't remember his name).  Whimsical and beautiful and mechanical...  Makes me wish I had one of his pieces for my own appreciation.

All Asia - bar near the MIT Museum.  We all thought it was more of a restaurant...  Anyway, the reason we went is because one of Melissa's coworkers, Maura (sp?), is in an a cappella group that was performing there that night.  The group's called Six Appeal, I think.  It was pretty good.  Too bad there weren't many tall cute boys there (though Corie was trying very hard to find some for me, hehe).

Closer - you already know how I feel about that, haha.  Corie wasn't a huge fan, since she said she usually goes for movies with entertainment value, not intellectual.  But Melissa liked it a lot, too, so we discussed a bit.

Veggie Planet - funky little vegetarian/vegan restaurant in Cambridge.  Tasty food, I'd like to go back sometime.  I had thai peanut curry w/ tofu and coconut rice...mmmm...  and the pizzas looked delicious, too.

ear candles - hahahaha, that was a funny experience.  And slightly disgusting.  I hadn't really heard of them till Corie told me about 'em.  She and I had gone to Cambridge Naturals (where I got some yerba maté!  woot!) and she said she wanted to try ear candles.  Feeling adventurous, I said sure, what the hell, I'll try them too.  They're wax-covered paper cylinders with one tapered end.  You light the opposite end with a match, and stick the tapered end in your ear (since the candle has to be continuously trimmed, you can't do this activity by yourself).  Anyway, the smoke goes into your ear, the heat softens the wax in there and also causes a slight vacuum, which draws the wax out of your ear and up into the candle.  Cleans 'em out real good, haha.  It worked though.  We could all hear much better afterwards.

I ended up spending more time in Cambridge than I'd originally planned, but I certainly didn't mind at all.  Corie's flight got cancelled on Monday, so she couldn't fly out till Tuesday morning, and I figured since she was going to be in town for a little while longer, I'd hang out for a little while longer.  All in all it was a very good time.  Even with all the trudging through the snow (over an hour and half of walking to and from Tufts so Corie could fax the exam she was supposed to be giving her students).  Good times, though.  It felt like a mini vacation for me, and I hadn't seen Corie in over a year.  And now that I think of it, I hadn't seen Melissa since Aberdeen...so that's been five years...  crazy.

Well, I'm tired from work and my brain's not functioning fully anymore.  I feel like I'm babbling.  It's a beautiful night, though...  sparkling stars, moon bright on the snow...  If I were coherent right now, I'd describe it more.  Oh well.  I still needed to comment on what a lovely sky it is.  And with that, I will say goodnight, all.
