the new Hairspray
Last night I went to see the new Hairspray film. I didn't know much about it, but I know that the original is a pop culture cult classic and I wanted to find out what the deal is.
This new version is a musical with very little spoken dialogue. You know how every 11 year old girl is crazy about Grease? The new Hairspray is like Grease, but its better. The songs are better and the story is better. So if any of you have a niece around Grease age, try to steer her away from Grease and toward Hairspray. Out with the old, in with the new.
I'm not an 11 year old girl (my tastes are closer to those of a 15 year old girl: Labyrinth, Before Sunrise, HIM) but I was certainly entertained for 2 hours.
