Have you had any major surgery in your lifetime?
Yes, I had. It wasn't a major surgery, but the surgery itself was a major thing for me.
What was it (if you feel comfortable talking about it)
I had a surgical removal for a tooth that I suffered with for a whole year. At first I had a filler & crown for it, that lasted only a year & fall off. Then, the dentist said my tooth is weak, I have to remove it completely and place a bridge in its place. It was horrible! I was shaking the whole time in the chair, her assistant had to hold me from the head and I kept my eyes close until she finished. Every time I hear the sound of the things she's putting in my mouth and my heart beats faster. Woosh, Zzzz, clings, tang! When the removal was done, she sewed my gum with a BIG needle.
-- did it help you like it was supposed to?
Oh yeah! It sure did. It's been 3 years since the surgery and nothing bad ever happened to that tooth. In fact, it feels like I never had any dental problem before.
Are you generally fearful of such surgeries, or is it no big deal to go "under the knife"?
HEll YEAH! I am afraid of such surgery or any other thing that requires cutting yourself up.
I was even scared when she said I'll have the surgery. I did it cause it was needed to be done.
I wish sometimes that my sight was normal like the others and I don't have to wear glasses. People have suggested me to do the lasik but I'm scard of the knife. This one is even worse, I know a girl who did it and said goodbye to her glasses, told me how it was done. You actually see the things that they put in your eye. I don't know if I will keep my eyes open then. I'm a type of person who can't stand murder scene and will cover my eyes when they are on. I would make matters worse if I were to do lasik to my eyes. So, I feel safer with glasses even though I don't like wearing them.
