The Best Hindi Songs of 2008/2009

Apr 12, 2009 16:56

Bollywood did a fanstasic year in music so here are my top 5 songs:

5. Khuda Jaane [Bachna Ae Haseeno]
WHY: The song embodies young lovers, and India's Gen Y is booming out. The chords are flawless and melt into a wonderful melody of love.
LOOK FOR: The awesome on-screen and off-screen chemistry of Deeps and Ranbir.

4. Teri Ore [Singh Is Kinng]
WHY: It's a pretty love song. Shreya Ghosal proves she deserves to be the nest shining star of music and melody. The song is definitely the most memorable tracks and make Singh Is Kinng's dime-a-dozen comedy a little more sweeter.
LOOK FOR: Akshay in a turban, and the pyrimids of Egypt.

3. Desi Girl [Dostana]
WHY: It's fun and it's dancable. It's a cool mix of Indian and Western culture with some empowering lyrics toward Desi girls, power to us!
LOOK FOR: John Gaybraham?

2. Hai Guzarish [Gajini]
WHY: Because it's got a lovely, almost timeless sound. It reminds me of the old days, the new days, and the days to come. The instruments work really well together, it just blends so flawlessly.
LOOK FOR: The beautiful scenery and Aamir's beautiful hair, before he got the stupid haircut.

1. Tu Muskura [Yuvvraaj]
WHY: Because only the elite musicians in India worked on it. Gulzar and A R Rahman and the lovely Alka Yagnik, what a combo! I'll admit I almost cried, I mean how can you not? The whole damn Yuuvraaj soundtrack was a work of art but this one stood out.
LOOK FOR: Katrina Kaif's radiant dresses, we all secretly want at least one in our wardrobes.
