California = AMAZING

Aug 05, 2005 03:43

so i just got back from a week in california...oh man was it great...

Thursday...drove to chicago at 6:30am way too hungover probably the worst flight and car ride EVER..flew to Dallas, Texas where we had a four hour lay over and then there was a power failure on the plane so we were delayed more...we got into Oakland airport at like 8:30...arrived in San Leandro five minutes later

Friday we spent the day in Pacifica on the beach...Friday evening we went to a pool side BBQ...i meet wonderful people...

Saturday went to a farmer's market and then went to San Francisco in which we went to pier 39 and saw the sea lions hanging out on the docks and then we got to go on a sailboat...WOW...the ocean was beatiful, the view was amazing, the experience is unforgettable...we got to go under the golden gate bridge and around alcateraz (i can't spell)...on the sailboat there were trampoline like things in the front and since the ocean was so choppy you could easily get splashed through the trampoline...there was this one lesbian couple and they were sitting in the very front and then they got drenched...it was pretty funny...

Sunday...my family went into the city...we took the BART which is sort of like the metro (st. louis) or the metra (chicago)...we walked to chinatown...looked at some sweet shops...then were pressured into eating at this one resturant because my brother enjoys talking to strangers that are pushy...my mother was walking through Chinatown not paying attention and ran into a Chinese lady with a cart and knocked off her bottles of water...my mother apologized and the woman just was yelling at her in Chinese...my mother bent down to help pick up the water and she hit my mom...it was entertaining...then we walked to North Beach which is like Little Italy...we stumbled upon a jazz festival and went to that for a while...walked up lombard street...went to Coit Tower

Monday...We went to Muir Woods...beatiful trees...the giant redwoods are amazing...we hiked up in the mountains

Tuesday...San Francsico again...we went to the asian art museum...it was interesting...we didn't have enough time to see the Tibet exhibit...meet up with my cousin and she told us about her work which is amazing because she turned down medical school to do something more meaningful in the medical field...she took us to a japanese resturant...we had to return to Chinatown so my brother could excahnge his tea set because it was missing the lid...we went shopping or looking is more like it...went back to San Leandro and my other cousin took us to Berkely...we went to a good pizza place and walked aound downtown...we went to the "hippie" part of Berkely which mostly was used record stores and a lot of homeless punk kids...

Wednesday...Another day in San Francisco...we went to fisherman's wharff...had lunch there...then split up from the parents and sister...we rode on a trolly car that was pretty fun...we went to haight street which is a "hippie" street which contained used record stores, over priced thrift stores, bars, tattoo palors, coffee shops, and again homeless punk kids (or as my brother would call them gutter punks)...we then went to where my cousin stays in San Francisco when she is working there...it was an old bed and breakfast so it is pretty sweet...it cost 1.2 million to buy...everything is expensive in San Francisco...we then went to Twin Peaks but because of the fog there wasn't much to see...then went to the Castro district which is the gay district...finally we went to the mission district which is the Hispanic part of San Francisco...

I can't wait to go back when I can hit everything that I want...there are so many awesome things there that I just want to do such as tour alcateraz...they lock you in the solidatry confindment

The weather was wonderful out there the highest it reached was 80 degrees and no humidity

I can't wait to go again and hang out with all the people I meet and get to spend time with my cousins because they are awesome
