But it's true. As of 10:10 pm CST on March 31st I have officially turned 30.
I had thought that I had to do something amazing for this event; have a big party, accomplished something grand, etc etc... but I am starting to see that turning 30 is not a big deal unless you make it one. I mean It's not as though turning 30 gets you some added benefit (not like the 16th or the 21st), it's also not as though it is some great negative like the over-the-hill-ness of the 40th and 50th. So frankly it was a birthday, a good low key birthday spent with the family at a Korean BBQ joint where we ate lots of great food and drank good beer and had a good time. Perhaps this weekend there will be time spent out parting with the brother more (we share the same birthday - 7 years 8 hours apart), but if not I think I like the calmness that occurred during my initiation to my 3rd decade on this planet. I've always believed that old saying about March, "In like a lion, out like a lamb" and vice versa, which would mean if my 30's start off calm and uneventful perhaps the end will be exciting and lively and I'm okay with that.
On a side note Ewan McGreggor (37) and Christopher Walken (65) also had birthdays today.
