I can't believe its ALL OVER. Everything I can do to get into a good college has already been done. Its good and terrifying all at the same time.
I went to UTK Sunday. My audition was crap literally. But I think they've been trying to get me to go there for a long time, so they were okay with it. It's the cutest thing, for the past few years the orchestra conductor would walk up to me if we happen to run into each other, look me in the eye and pronounce my name PERFECTLY like its supposed to impress me that he remembered (and it does btw, lolol). I stayed for part of an orchestra concert after my audition, and I've decided that UT doesn't seem to be the school for me. I don't think it would be enough of a challenge/change for me to grow over the next four years.
I was in Baltimore, Maryland this past Monday and that was amazing. Peabody conservatory must be the most beautiful place I have ever actually been in. It looked more like a museum than a school. And all the kids I ran into were from like Boston, Philly, New York and there were FIFTY violists trying out for a handful of spots. It was really intimidating at first, but I got over that really quick. I figured, "this is the last one, I might as well do it right". The audition was interesting. It was a lot like the other three When they heard my Bach they were like "oh, wow MAYBE we can take her!" and then when they heard the Walton it was like "eh my mistake. NEXT!" lolol. But they were really nice.
I ran into my roommate from music camp up there too! I hung out with her and her family for the rest of the evening and we went out to dinner in Baltimore's Little Italy. I discovered something, a REAL Italian accent is about the sexiest thing EVER.
I got back to the airport later Monday evening and that's when things got messy. I had a connection in Charlotte, NC to get to Atlanta but we had an hour delay because it was storming in ATL. I was supposed to get to Atlanta at 11pm, but I didn't end up getting there until 12:30...missing the last shuttle back to Chattanooga for the night. So for the second time in a week I found myself sleeping in the airport terminal in front of the same Atlanta Bread Company. And of course my cell phone diedagain.
I got home at around 830 this morning, I've been awake since 3am Monday and I'm definitely not going to school. So in summary:
Cincinnati: Awesome. My first choice. Really nice campus.
Peabody: I hardly know anything about, but it seemed amazing from the little time I spent there.
North Texas: It was okay, but I'm worried that there isn't enough of a focus on classical music rather than jazz and everything else they have going on over there. I'm not sure if its worth the distance.
UTK: Too small, and I love Sheila, but I want an all around good music school experience and not just a good teacher.
But you know, if i didn't get in anywhere, where i WANT to go really doesn't matter. I'm starting to freak out already...
