Things I have thought while in the shower:
Wait. Waaait.
Ghostbusters is about people running around capturing ghosts using portable high-tech traps and then stuffing them in energy-based matrices.
Pokémon is about people running around capturing elemental monsters using portable high-tech traps and then stuffing them in the internet.
My favorite Ghostbusters have always been Egon and Peter, scientists (one of whom invented the equipment to store ghosts).
My favorite Pokémon characters are Bill, Lanette, and Bebe, scientists (all of whom invented the equipment to store Pokémon).
Ghost traps = Poké Balls, Ecto-Containment Unit = storage system, any fight involving the proton packs = Pokémon battle...
Conclusion: I have spent most of my fannish life following the same thing. (And also, Ghostbusters is basically exactly like Pokémon, only with a cool car.)
I shouldn't be up at this hour. I just finished a project, and I'm still slightly what what.
