All the Good Things!
So many things to talk about! Let's do it by lists~!
1. PHANTOM.
It's not out yet (because the wiki where I found the date on was hilariously lying), but it's out TOMORROW. I've been toying with my Mercedes in the meantime, but lol at the idea of getting her up to level 200 anytime soon. Tomorrow, it'll be ALL PHANTOM ALL THE TIME. And it will be glorious.
Still, I'm sort of on the fence about the dubbed opening cinematics. The English trailer sort of changes a lot of what Phantom and Freud were saying, so the relationship between Aria and Phantom seems... I don't know. A little watered down? I mean, Freud accuses Phantom of having a heavy conscience and whatnot, but in the Korean version, he seems to know about the relationship between the empress and him. Then, there's the fact that he also says the Black Mage took the wrong treasure, but the original had this uber-cute line about how Phantom went to steal something but got something stolen from him, which sort of gives more of a positive light to the empress. But maybe I'm nitpicking. Either way, not too fond of how Phantom's line about how he was joining up was changed from "this is interesting" to "this is a bit cliché." Because I can tell the dub's going to try to get him to sound annoying. Frownie face.
On the other hand, the dubbed version of the infiltration scene makes a hell of a lot more sense than the Korean one.
And I'm so looking forward to seeing what fighting with the cards will be like. SQUEE, NEW BATTLE SYSTEM.
2. SAILOR MOON.
Old news but HOLY EFF GUYS CLICK THIS SERIOUSLY. I'M STILL FLAILING. FLAILING.
This of course means that I should probably work on The Sailor Moon Project again.
3. Pokémon?
Quick question to the teashippers out there, but why is it that all teashipping fanfic involves Bill angsting about being alone/not deserving Daisy, Daisy angsting about how she could possibly deserve Bill, the two of them drinking tea (or coffee), or some combination thereof? I mean, don't get me wrong. I'd love to read some good Bill-centered shipping fic, but... that's literally pretty much every single fic I've read involving that pairing, and I don't get it. Or they bash the other programmers in the process. (Why do people think that Bill is afraid his colleagues are out to steal his ideas or muscle him out of fame? 'Cause he seems enthusiastic to hyperactive levels towards Celio and Lanette in both the games and the manga, and considering it's the manga fans who keep portraying him like that, I sort of wonder if we've been reading the same Sevii Islands saga.)
Either way, it makes me want to write more prodigyshippy fic, if only because I now have this serious longing for Bill and someone else in a pairing being awesome together, and unfortunately, Bill/Lanette is my OTP. I say "unfortunately" because there's a serious dearth of Bill/Celio these days despite it being adorable on tons of levels, Bill/Surge and Bill/Lyra always makes me write delicious and actually sort of hot crack, and there's literally nothing out there for Bill/Bebe or any other conceivable pairing. Bill/Daisy is okay, but it's basically the N/Hilda/Hilbert of Bill pairings. You're hard-pressed to find anything involving those characters that doesn't just ship them together.
Rest assured that at least one of these attempts will make it both here and Serebii. I'm already thinking of revising Intellectual Tango for the umpteenth time, and I'm pretty sure you guys didn't get to see the non-LJ version (that's really crappy so please don't read that).
Also, I'm finally planning for a full website revision. Like, layout (and updated content) of the main domain, updated content for Keeper, and also, The BBS is sort of getting a restart, probably. Depends on whether or not people say they like the idea, and y'all have two weeks to post here if you have an opinion.
It's rather weird, though. I haven't really done much with fandomy things lately besides posting on SPPf and writing chapters for two fics like crazy. It's almost like I think that because I'm doing ~grown up things~ in real life, I just don't have time to set aside for fandom things. But that's silly because this is still my hobby. I still have very fannish thoughts going through my head at all times. I still have plenty of plot bunnies I have yet to write (including that comic script that I swear I will get to eventually)! And I still want to do fan things. It's just that I also want to be outside and socialize and work on things at school and, well, work.
On the other hand, a friend shared a link to applications for editorial positions at The Mary Sue, and hell yes, I'm applying. Yes, it's impulsive. Yes, it's in New York and not Boston. Yes, I have an internship in the spring and an educational career to complete. But still!
Anyway, yes. I'm slowly getting back into reviews with all the fic writing, and only half of them are angry. Okay, most.
And I should totally share some of the plot bunnies I have in mind someday.
But in any case, related note: I changed "soulbond" to "muse" in the tag system (and relished in the fact that DW's tagging feature actually lets me do that to mass amounts of posts). Why? Because I really, really don't want to argue that when I say "soulbond," I mean the old school "it means character I know so well they almost feel like old friends" definition. Because fuck you fangirls who want to marry fictional characters. Also, because the person who wrote the essay that I consider to be the best explanation for the practice took it down and then decided to dramaflail at everyone not too long ago because that's mature. So I figured I hate fandom some days. And that "muse," although not even remotely the correct term, probably produces slightly less stupid mental images (although I'm sure that term will permanently be associated with morons on FFNet).
And now, to bed!
