Lol, I like how my last two posts to this DW were me bitching about LJ, and the ones before that are all old and slightly badly written fanfiction from last year. (P.S. If you want an in-character, not-as-overdramatic version of Intellectual Tango, please ignore that BS down there and go read the FFNet version. It makes me want to hate myself less.)
Anyway, on DW because that's what the cool kids are doing, and by that, I mean fucking about time, guys. Seriously, the only thing preventing me from being on DW? The fact that all my fandoms are full of crickets over here. Idek why. I feel like there are some fandoms that are active here, but they're none of the ones I'm in. Because I'm just like that.
And I still refuse to use a Tumblr.
But really, I'm just amused by the whole thing. Honestly, LJ staff is shitty, and I've always felt they proved that with their reaction to the DDoS attacks (by, y'know, not talking about them, going into detail about what steps they're taking to prevent their site from going down, or offering any consolation to anyone but paid users). Of course, that's ignoring the other shenanigans they've pulled. As I've told Larky, if you're ever bored, try asking a completely valid and innocent question to their support staff. If you've ever thought I was a bitch when running a comm, LJ's got nothing on me, for serious.
And that's all I've really got to say about that.
Aaanyway, so the AEM Christmas special isn't happening this year. Most of the volunteers didn't respond, one of the voice actors dropped out at the last minute, and my sound editor's parents keep disconnecting her internet. Fun times. So said sound editor and I were talking about it, and we might record one or two of the skits anyway, but mostly, it'll probably be for next year. With heavy rewrites because I'm really thinking of gunning for finishing up book one by the end of the year anyway. Which means half the material for the current audio show will actually not make sense.
Blargh, don't mind me. I'm just a little bitter because pretty much everything I've planned for Christmas isn't going to happen, as usual for this time of year. The BBS is most likely going to be dead (because, natch, the staff members who said they wanted to do stuff aren't responding), the audio show isn't going to exist, and I'm scrambling to put something together by myself because, y'know, I said I would. I guess I'm also a little bit bitter because for the second year in a row (third if you count my senior year of college), I'm sort of spending Christmas on my own. Most likely, I'll post everything I said I would and then go play MapleStory for the rest of the day because... yeah. Not saying that I have no life or friends offline, but... plans, y'know?
And I completely understand because it's Christmas and priority should be on your family and offline friends, and I guess a little bit of the AEM thing is my fault for not posting the script more than a couple of weeks in advance, but... yeah. For serious, I had people saying they'd help me, and I sort of expected to be done by now. Now... not so much because people disappeared, didn't record at all in the time that I gave them, and so forth. I can understand my sound editor's issues because she genuinely tried but got cockblocked by real life. But for the others? If you didn't want to do it or didn't have time to do it, you could've just told me from the get-go so I didn't have to expect you, y'know?
Sorry for the rants as well. It's just a good day to go out, buy a bottle of vodka and ginger ale and maybe something to eat for later (because the kitchen's being commandeered by my roommates for the entirety of the night -- another side disappointment because I've come to realize that with now three other people in this house, the kitchen will be unavailable for the holidays to do some awesome things with food), hole myself in my room, finish my work, and watch a movie or something.
And in case the prospect of Jax being wasted on Christmas doesn't scare you off, I'm still planning on being on Skype tomorrow. If you want to join me, message me at jxvalentine. If I'm already in a call and you want to call me, you'll probably be pulled into the call for a Skype party, jsyk.
Lastly, for those of you just tuning in thanks to that friending meme going around, I'm not usually this much of a downer, I swear. If you'd like to read my past entries, feel free to browse my LJ. I might import those over to here because I actually like the stuff I put on AZTEC RAVE MONKEY, buuuuut not sure if I want to drown out the lulz the early entries to this journal provided.
