Welp, AEM got bumped to the next page on SPPf, and it only got sixty views and zero reviews in the process. (By comparison, a mediocre journey fic by a pretentious author who whined about not getting reviews at the beginning has gotten five reviews, and an equally mediocre sci-fi fic based on the exact same thing AEM was based on got three reviews

Your rant = my exact feelings towards some of my latest work. I've got a fic with two characters, another fic has the same two characters, I've been around for longer and have 45 replies/6,500-ish views (I even know exactly how many replies I've got off the top of my head, I track it that often) the other fic has 740+ replies/111,000 views. The other fic is also not that good, makes lame puns (not good lame puns either, tryhard lame puns) has a serious issue with good pacing, has sucky romance that's based around the author insisting they're together rather than it feeling natural and is really lazy in terms of storytelling/backstory.
I'm not saying my fic is the best, but it's better than the other fic. I'm obviously in the minority in thinking this however :/
It's hardly a bandwagon effect either, because I've not been jumped on.
One more thing that annoyed me about the other fic, is that the author said that he'd be collaborating with another author on a new project. The other author is a brilliant writer, and there's the other guy. Guess who's going to do most of the real work? The good writer. Guess who's going to get an uneven share of praise and adoration? The bad writer.
I don't specifically care about popularity (even though I will admit that it would be great for lots of people to enjoy what I do. It's more that I would welcome popularity, but I could live easily without it.) I just feel there's some kind of injustice going on with the other fic being so popular.
