I know this entry is a little late, but I just wanted to post about last weekend before I forgot.
J and I had a ski house in Vermont for part of last week and the weekend. We had been hoping to fill it up with friends, both for fun and to help defray our costs. Well, about half of our friends have been laid off in recent weeks/months so many of the people who said they'd come last summer all had to back out. Then, for a variety of other reasons, everyone else backed out except Big-D and Little-L. They were only with us for a day/night, but we had a ton of fun with them when they were there.
Hanukkah overlapped with out trip so we celebrated the last few nights there. My dvd collection is growing!
J and I only ended up on the mountain one day LOL. We took an awesome 4+ hour lesson with an amazing teacher (not like my crappy lesson last year). I really feel like I learned a lot, and tried to do things right. Big-D and J both made fun of me for the way I held my arms when snowboarding, but hey, it works for me. I was pretty cautious, so when I fell it was managable for the most part. J on the other hand went bombing down the mountain, so when he fell it was pretty spectacular. He smacked his head pretty hard twice, and ended up with a migraine later that night (eep).
J woke up pretty sore the next two days. I hurt too, but I think I was in much better shape overall. (Not "in shape" mind you....b/c he's WAY better than me on that.....just bruise-wise). I could actually move around this time, not like last year (oh the pain!) So we never went back to the mountain. I could have done it too. I would have liked another lesson.
Instead we went and explored Vermont. We even went and checked out Albany. Not much there really.
Oh, and I bought myself a pretty ring WHICH I LOVE with my leftover birthday money.
All in all it was a very fun and relaxing couple of days.
