The pre-orders for The Country Alpha are live - actually, they've been live since last weekend, I've just dropped the ball about promoting them, which is mostly for stupid reasons along the lines of not preparing better on my end. Anyway, they're live now and I've started the media blitz about promoting them.

I know Veronica's story isn't going to do as well. Let's face it, whatever fanbase exists for me, exists in the realm of m/m romance. I'm okay with that - to me, the important this is that I finished the book, because for a while there, I wasn't sure I'd ever finish it. I won't admit this on Pen's pages, but I had horrible trouble writing Veronica's story. Don't get me wrong - I really like the way it turned out now, and I'm pleased with it... but yeah. It was a struggle getting it there.
And as it turned out... I think I needed to write Ned's story in order to find my way with Veronica.
Anyway, if it doesn't fare well, it's going to be because I don't know how to market it well enough. The cover is fantastic, and I believe the story is sound. Really, this is all about my business acumen, and not the story itself. I'm... okay with that, mostly because I don't know what else to be. My goals for Veronica are much less than my goals for Ned. Country Omega had 66 pre-orders, which thrilled me. I'll be happy if Ned gets 50 pre-orders. I'll be really happy if Veronica gets 20. Given the number of preorders they have now - I think these are reasonable goals.
In the meantime... I've started doing "reading research" for the next story. Not the last Downing Cycle book... I'm going to write another m/m standalone first. One thing that seems to be very popular in the alpha/omega mpreg genre is to actually have more of the pregnancy within the confines of the story. There's also a fascination on the m/f side with royalty and millionaires and all that - so I'm going to try to combine the two. I have an idea, and it's not terrible, though it's kind of corny. Which actually isn't a bad thing for this genre. Only I came up with it last night at 2am while Charlie wasn't falling asleep, so the soundness of the plot might be suspect.
Everyone else: What an adorable toddler! I just want to steal him away!
Me: Yes, you may have him at 2am.
Everyone else: Hahaha, you're so funny!
Me: No, I'm serious. Here's the house keys. See you at 1:59.
