Sarah does coddle John a little...but I think that's what he wanted. Whereas Mary's sympathetic, but it's her job on the line, so she's less concerned with John's pride!

There might have been some Andrew inspiration, I admit. Stickers are powerful things.

Thanks, hon!

I might have mentioned this in my beta notes--I probably did--but I love how in all incarnations Mrs. Hudson just adores Sherlock Holmes. I mean, I know she isn't really fawning over him here in an inappropriate way, but she thinks he's lovely, and I think that's something that any Sherlock Holmes doesn't get very often.

And I can't get enough of John Watson being adorable with children. STOP IT.

I think you did. It's funny, even when Mrs Hudson is one of John's people in an AU, she still connects with Sherlock! :)

And I can't get enough of John Watson being adorable with children. STOP IT.

Okay, you do realize the IRONY in you telling ME to stop posting John Watson being adorable with children, when last night you posted a chapter in which John was cuddling Oliver in bed, right? :)

...Okay, believe it or not, I did *not* realize the irony! I think because the kid you had your John charming was slightly older than my kid and I TOTALLY DIDN'T CONNECT THE TWO. Ha! I fail.

Excellent chapter- we really get to see all of John's misgivings and worries about what is happening. I love the entire bit in the clinic- his ability to work with kids, realizing he's being flirted with, and I think the conversation with Sarah was awesome. He has so needed someone to confide in! I also agree that it contrasts well with his conversation with Mary.

One tiny little formatting thing near the end: Roast chicken - pizza - bangers and mash…
Figured I'd point that out :) Easily fixable!

Another awesome chapter! Really, really loving this story.

John really did need that conversation with Sarah - someone in his life, but apart from the Empire. He doesn't really have someone like that, not since leaving the army, and Sarah's got the added benefit of knowing just how important the Empire is to him.

Thanks for the comment - and the nit! :)

Yahoo! A whole chapter of people talking TO each other rather than ABOUT each other. The interplay among everyone, Artie, Harry, Molly, even Sherlock "Bloody" Holmes was a delight, I really enjoyed it.
You write UP so well that I wonder why you bother with ANGST at all! Please keep it up, I like background music with my movies as well. It helps me determine who is the good guy vs. the bad guys.

I got a little worried there in the middle of John's mention of Sherlock's breath, open mouthed, etc!! Don't tell me there is no kissing and then smack me with innuendo that way.

Luv ya,

Ah, confrontation is for sissies. :)

I can't help the angst. What comes out is what comes out.

Love you too, Dad.
