(no subject)
Since Andrew's and my time in DC has become truncated - instead of leaving for Indiana on Friday, we're flying out on Tuesday morning - I found myself in the unfortunate situation of having to go to the mall today. (There really weren't any other good options - half of the list could be knocked out in one location, and Andrew isn't fond of going in and out of stores all day.) Much to my surprise, the mall was not horrible - we were able to park and the lines weren't obnoxious unless you were going for Santa, which we weren't. (Well, we would have, except the line was obnoxious and Andrew wasn't particularly gung-ho.)
But! Andrew now has a haircut, and I'm happy to say he did NOT scream the whole time. He was happily pacified with a lollipop and Cars on the television, and now he's all neat and tidy. He's also richer by a garbage truck, a McQueen, and some other character from Cars2. We checked out iPads (he's richer by one of those as well, but not officially until Christmas), and I was able to check out the Kindle Paperwhites and Nook Glowworms (or whatever they are) at Best Buy, and went for a Kindle Paperwhite, which I'm really tempted to break out, and haven't just yet. Maybe tonight after Andrew goes to sleep. I have PLANS for that Kindle, people. Ficcy plans, mostly, but PLANS. There are two fics that are going on there permanently (Performance in a Leading Role and EGT's Middlegame, because I don't think I can put the whole of Scotch in one complete file), and then I might start browsing.
Packages have been wrapped (with tape and scissors borrowed from the front desk; why yes, I did wrap things with packing tape, hush). I'm going to try to get to a post office tomorrow to mail a box back, because I'm convinced we're going to be overweight on Tuesday for the flight - I'm half tempted to go to Goodwill and buy a cheap suitcase just to take in the overflow.
Andrew's falling asleep great at night - the problem is that I follow him shortly after, so I haven't gotten writing in, which is bad, because I'm going to run out of advent calendar drabbles in about three days, and I still have my Tumblr Secret Santa fic to finish.
