I hit the first of the consignment sales this morning - there's a total of three in the next two-and-a-half weeks - and I kicked butt this morning. I filled out most of Andrew's 4T wardrobe in one go and made a respectable dent in the 5T section as well. Plus I lucked out in shoes and found several pairs in Andrew's next few sizes that were both in good condition, under $5 a pair, and brands I like. (I am all about Stride-Rite when it comes to his shoes.) Plus Andrew found a truck when we walked in the door, and he held onto it for the entire hour-long sale, which kept him happily occupied until we left and discovered it was $3, which at that point, was totally worth it. (We made the unhappy discovery on the way home that said car makes noise. Boo.)

(Also: Red Sox jacket for Andrew. I love finding Red Sox stuff at consignment sales, because it's always so expensive when you buy them new, and in this area, they're usually in excellent condition.)

The tough part about consignment sales is that by the time you get to toddler boy sizes, it's slim pickings because toddler boys are, to no one's surprise, extremely hard on their clothes. I usually end up soaking Andrew's shirts in Shout before every wash, and even then it's something of a crapshoot for which stains will eventually come out. Just yesterday, one of the shirts I like the best for him was tossed into the Goodwill pile for not making it through the wash unscathed.

(Not that it's any easier on the girls' side, although usually it's more packed. The problem is it's packed with pink and yellow and frilly, so if you don't like pink and yellow and frilly, you're kind of screwed. I usually end up helping Isa's mom go through the girls racks and wow, did we see some awful toddler-sized skank clothes over there today.)

Anyway, I'm still riding on the consignment sale high, and I have two more to go, and one of them is usually a very good one.

AND we got the visa applications in the mail today, so that's happy. Better yet, Bill's aunt is coming over for dinner tonight and bringing Pizzeria Uno. Life is good.
