So last Saturday, Andrew and I went down to the grand reopening of Arena Stage, because since I used to work in their costume shop, I'd been invited to their alumni brunch. It's been a while since I last walked around SW DC, beyond the baseball stadium, but I'd seen the new Arena from the road a few times and I was very much looking forward to

the place looks *gorgeous* ... though you kinda wish they'd spend that money on paying the actors and tech folks a higher wage... though those of us in the arts didn't go into it for the money (well, most of us didn't) it would be nice to be able to make a real living at it.

Sing it, sister. I would never have been able to support myself at Arena if I hadn't been married to Bill, who earned more working as a government flunkie than I did. Which is just sad, considering that the gov't is not exactly famed for high salaries. Not around here, anyway.

If I had time, I would come in and do stuff for you. And I wish the photo of you and Andrew had been in focus - I didn't take many of people, and I'm sort of regretting that now.

Mrs. M is completed, my swan song so to speak. The show is under control, J is out with food poisoning for several days, so sanity is restored!

I swear, I did NOTHING to start the baby crying. He did that of his own volition, because he's a good boy and loves his Mommy.

Maybe one day Andrew will do plays in school and you can take over the costumes. Or at least make sure he has the most happening outfits. *laughs
