Erised Update - Page Three Complete!

May 03, 2006 18:27

I know I just posted the one-year anniversary pictures a few weeks ago, but I finished off Page Three of Erised and thought I'd share, because at the veeeerrrrrryyyyyy bottom you can actually make out some of the MIRROR, and I think this is majorly cool.

See that white bit, right at the bottom of all the gold and red? Yup! That be mirror! It looks extremely cool, too; there's about five or six different shades of white and yellow right in there which is giving it that nice mottled look. I'm very excited about getting to do the rest of it....in about another year or so. :)

The facts:

Erised is being stitched 2 over 1 on 28-count antique white Monaco fabric. The pattern is ALL full stitches - no halfs, no three-quarters, and best of all, NO BACKSTITCHING. The finished design will be approximately 12x15 inches and will utilize around 70 different colors.

The pattern was taken from the Harry Potter Uno deck (don't ask which card; I've forgotten) and I used a cross-stitch program I found online to create the pattern. The pattern is not for sale, nor is the finished product; all copywrights and honors go to J.K. Rowling and whoever it was who drew the original picture.

However, I'm more than willing to share .bak or .xsd files of the pattern, provided you promise not to sell them either.

Having finished up page three, however, I'm going to take a short break from Erised and work on some smaller projects for a while. I want to get these done; now seems as good a time as any.
