First - Bill has posted the Elite Eight in his Tournament. I'm quite pleased at how well Monty Python is doing (as I suggested them for inclusion originally) but "Mr. Burns v. Microsoft" is much closer than we originally anticipated. Do go over and put in your votes; it'll make Bill's day.

The weather turned wet and drizzly today - which is just perfect timing, of course, since the heat was also turned off yesterday afternoon. (Damn post-Soviet infrastructure!!!!)

Noel has been sending me pictures of her new kitten, Nermal Errol, who is so incredibly cute I have no words. (Hence the striked-out name. Hopefully some of you will catch the reference.) We have come to the conclusion that we are not getting a kitten here in K before we leave - time is too short, and the kittens that are up for adoption are too young, so we'll wait until we're in DC.

(There are rules, you see, to bringing animals into the States. Nothing big like quarrantines, at least, but they do need all their shots documented, and in order for a kitten to have all its shots, it needs to be at least six months old. And the kittens that are up for adoption will be, at the most, 3 months old when we PCS back to DC. And, therefore, not exactly a stellar prospect, no matter how cute they are. Quarrantine or no, they're not an option.)

Of course, PCSing is another kettle of fish entirely, particularly as Bill and I are sort of expanding the housing search to actually include houses, partially inspired by phillyexpat's recent posts regarding her search, partially because we have other friends who have purchased homes in the last year or so, partially because we're managed to accumulate a hell of a down payment.

And partially because trying to find an apartment over internet is a PAIN in the neck. I love floorplans, don't get me wrong - but looking at them online, particularly when the connections and websites are very slow to load, gives me a headache, and I used up the last of the Tylenol this morning.

Please do not send me Tylenol. The very lovely Nurse J is going to give me some Monday morning, plus they sell it at the air base nearby.

Really, I just want someone to say, "Here, dear, this is the perfect apartment for you. It's got a washer and dryer, they'll let you have a cat, the Metro is a ten-minute walk in this direction, and on the way you'll pass a library and a grocery store."1

Anyway. Apartment first, house second. To the apartment search machine, Batman! (At least until my head explodes. Holy Tylenol, indeed.)

Edit: I am so loving this complex that it's not even funny. Yoga, people. It offers yoga classes. I am seriously highly amused.

1 Although, I'd take anything up to a half-hour walk in any direction. I'm not picky; I like walking.
