So in the time I was sick and subsequently better, all the snow outside melted and we can see the street again. This is a good thing, as walking on ice was getting a bit old. The mountains are still covered in snow, but as least the sidewalks are clear.

I had extremely wacked out dreams last night (there seems to be something going around; not only has half my flist posted about their weird dreams, but I got an email from a friend not on LJ in which she told me about her wacked out dream too). Personally, I blame it on the party at the Marine House last night. Marines have very heavy hands when it comes to amaretto and cokes; they claimed there was Coke in that amaretto but I don't know that I believe them.

Anyway, it was the last karaoke night at the Marine House ever - the detachment commander is leaving in a few weeks and is taking his machine with him. As ridiculous as karaoke is, there are few things funnier than a bunch of drunken diplomats attempting to sing Madonna songs. (There was a very good rendition of Welcome to the Jungle, though, which you wouldn't think would make a good karaoke song, but it wasn't half bad. Well, in retrospect it was likely closer to three-quarters bad, but by that point I was on my second amaretto and coke so I really wasn't keeping score.)

Today's goal is going to the butcher to buy beef. I bought beef at the new and "improved" Beta the other day, and found it to be tough even after cooking it for a lengthy amount of time in a generous amount of liquid, which ought to have produced a very tender result.

(Cut? What cut? You mean different parts of the cow can be sold seperately? Boy, aren't you dreamers. Go back to your pretty little meat counters at your well-stocked local grocery store and shut up already, thankyouverymuch.)
