And so begins this unknown.

So.

I have the book.

I went into the maw of madness that was the Times Square Toys 'R Us at midnight and have emerged victorious!

Hahaha. In reality it was remarkably well-planned and executed on Toys 'R Us' part. Kudos to them. Everyone was in a great mood, too. Everyone was happy in line. I got there just two hours before midnight and the line was already down one block of Times Square and wrapping onto 43rd Street. ROFL. I wonder how long it was at midnight. Stood between two families of people from the UK, including a British Indian family whose twenty-something son was pretty much gorgeous. He and I made eyes at each other and giggled. I think he might have been a little gay. Even more awesome.

There were crazy dudes running around the line asking trivia questions for prizes. I successfully named all the Weasley children and knew what job Charlie did and where, though a question about the names of St. Mungo's patients tripped me up in the end. Still I managed to come away with a really nice bookmark, a Slytherin sticker, and a chocolate frog with a Minerva McGonagall card inside. WIN!

When the line started moving, everyone cheered, and just ten minutes later I was dancing around outside the store with my very own copy of Deathly Hallows! People still in the line cheered for those walking out with their books. LOL Insanity. It was fabulous!

I'll maybe have some pics from the mayhem once I figure out how my camera phone works.

On the subway ride back to Brooklyn there were no less than four people in my car alone reading the book. Not including me, because I haven't even opened it yet. Hahaha. Harry Potter fever!

This is the part where I should make some heartfelt remark about how the Harry Potter books have changed my life. I'm not really one for that kind of sentiment, but I will say that I have been reading them for a very long time and I've grown up with the books, so they do mean quite a lot to me. Not only have they provided me with an escape into a lovely fantasy world, but the fandom was one of the first I discovered online, with all the craziness that brings. Haha.

I can't wait to know how it ends. I've stayed 99% unspoiled, and I'm very happy I managed to for so long.

So, happy reading, everyone! I can't wait to join the lively discussion I'm sure will be firing up over the next few days! :D

PS: If you haven't yet, go HERE and read some of Pete Wentz's uncensored thoughts on his trip to Uganda. I'll post more about my reaction to them in a bit, but I'll just say that the stark honesty within the wordcraft effected me deeply. One part, in fact, moved me nearly to tears. Sleep hard, wish well.
