So, somebody (we'll call her Azy) has been rereading the CoM manga.
Axel is an evil, manipulative, little shit.
...I still adore him.
And at one point, it kinda seems like Zexion is basically stating that Riku is a Nobody... Which, doesn't really make sense, but, well. Hm. If !Ansem is his heart, or something... Okay, that's headpain.
...Also, I'm pretty sure Axel can't be one of the weakest of the OXIII - at least not if Marluxia's one of the strongest. He was willing to confront him head on, and was confident of victory... Then again, he's an evil manipulative little shit. Brawn doesn't count for everything.
...Also, Namine is fucking scary as all hell. And I like larxene more than I ever thought I did. ...Which makes me think I might actually like her even more than I think I do, because I thought I hated Axel when I first met him, which is clearly - abundantly - not true.
Also, Vexen is a dork. A dork who thinks in FLOWCHARTS. ...This is awesome.
And have I mentioned Axel's evilness?
Observation: Axel is all about evasion of personal responsibility. He sets things up so that other people either do his dirty work for him, or order him to do what he wanted to do anyway, thus relieving him of personal responsibility.
In KH2, this was turned back on him, in a way, which I think is part of what had him off balance - and he was off balance for most if not all of the game. Which, in addition to the factor that he also spent most of KH2 'fighting wounded' to one extent or another, can help explain the discrepancies between his character in CoM, and KH2.
In other words, CoM is Axel when he's on his game, so to speak. At his best. In his element. And so forth. KH2 is just the opposite. Axel is, in a way forced to accept personal responsibility, and eventually, he embraces it, along with his own doom (in both senses of the word, damn it.)
Also, Zexion is rather adorable. So is Lexaeus. We really don't get to see enough of them. I kinda feel bad for them.
Wel, okay, I feel bad for all of OXIII. I'm a sucker for the underdog, in a lot of ways, and when you get right down to it, yeah, they're powerful, and RAWR and whatever, but... They are the underdog.
