I'm working as a cook for Paspaley Pearls again. This time I'm on a farm in the remote Kimberly instead of a boat though. I've been working there for a month now. It's a two weeks on, one week off roster and as you might expect, there isn't any internet or affordable phone calls. They fly us there in a seaplane called a Mallard from Darwin. There'll be an email following this telling you more about the job so I won't go into it too much now.

While in Sydney, I was working at the old pub I used to work at years ago, The Marlborough Hotel in Newtown, and I also worked at a smaller local pub that my friend Kate is liscencee for, called the Forrest Lodge Hotel near Glebe. Not much to tell about those except I made some more good friends and I got to quit the Marly five minutes before I was due to start.

Highlights for my time in Sydney include;
• A extended weekend surfing mission to near Forster with Scotty and his mates.
• Soundwave music festival, where Gaz and I bought ice cream for the singer of Dillenger Escape Plan which he devoured on stage before throwing back into the crowd at the end of their set.
• About a million beery nights out with various partners in crime.
• Too many friends having children, or talking about having children.
• There was a weird moment when someone recognised me from the years I worked on White Dwarf magazine and telling me about how the people I worked with and I had inspired him over the years.
• I got to go on a James Squire Brewery tour where we learnt about taste matching beer with food. The awesome free beer may of helped.
• Seeing and spending time with friends.

I know there's a bunch of stuff I've forgotten... ah well, that's the life I lead, hey?
