Despite what everyone thought it took weeks for things to escalate between Riley and Dean. It wasn’t easy - or natural - for either of them but it was all they had.
This place, the ring, the cages, the fights, the killing and the isolation from civilization - the real world - was slowly killing them. None of the men forced to fight wanted to be here, most are gone before the true reality of the situation sinks in. But Riley and Dean are fighters, survivors, and neither is willing to lie down and die.
They’d all had lives prior to fighting and killing. They’d all once worked hard, not necessarily honest jobs, but they worked to put food on the table. And now they fought amongst themselves to survive on the meager rations they were given.
Dean’s lips are dry and chapped, broken and bloody from his fight earlier this evening. Riley can smell the tangy scent of copper in the air and taste it as Dean forces their mouths together. Riley’s not surprised when Dean kisses him, hell he’s been expecting it for awhile now. They way Dean’s been looking at him lately has changed. Dark green eyes, half-lidded and glassy have been watching him as he goes about his daily business in this life.
Dean’s breath is hot and slightly sour as he parts his lips and pants into Riley’s mouth. Idly, as his own tongue dances out to curl with Dean’s, Riley realizes he’s in no better shape, must taste the same if not worse. It’s the first time in months he wishes he had his toothbrush and fancy overpriced toothpaste. But Dean’s not complaining as he licks into Riley’s mouth, tongue skating against the roof and then sliding along the bottom of his teeth before retreating back into his own mouth.
Riley takes great care to shield Dean’s body from the prying eyes of the others. It’s certainly nothing new to the other fighters, but it’s new and special - in a warped way - to Riley and Dean.
Riley’s been fighting - surviving - for months upon months until Dean entered his life. Others took pleasure, comfort, and pain from one another. Others had offered it before, but Dean is the first and likely the last he’d allow this close. It’s more than trust - though he does trust Dean - it’s about recognizing yourself in someone else. They both have their secrets, the half-truths and stories so edited they come out like swiss cheese. The optimistic - foolish - part of Riley hopes they’ll be able to share those secrets when they get out. But the realistic side of him stopped expecting to break free the minute he took his first life.
Riley’s jolted back to the here and now when Dean’s hand rubs against the front of his crotch. Riley’s hips flex forward naturally, seeking out the pleasure Dean is offering.
“Need you here with me, if I’m gonna do this,” Dean muttered against his lips, hand unmoving against Riley’s crotch as he waited for a comment - an admission.
“I’m here,” Riley finally replied, reaching up and cupping Dean’s face. He pulled him closer, their lips pressing together and his tongue reached out for Dean’s.
It wasn’t romantic in any way but it was better than his own hand or nothing at all. Dean’s determined which made up for his lack of experience.
Riley buried his face in Dean’s neck, biting back his whimper and moan as he came. Dean kept stroking him until he was done. And then Dean wrenched away his hand, fumbling between them to get his own jeans unbuttoned and open. Riley was just getting his breath back, his heart slowing in his chest as Dean pulled frantically on his own dick. Riley pulled his head away from Dean’s neck and watched as Dean finished himself off.
Dean came with a hot splash over Riley’s stomach and a whimper escaping his bloody lips. When he was done he wiped his hand off on his own shirt and looked up to meet Riley’s eyes.
They laid in silence. Each panting into the other’s mouth. They were close enough their lips would touch; almost but not a kiss. Their sweaty foreheads pressed together. The freckles on Dean’s face were blurry and out of focus from the intimate angle. And it should freak him out, the fact that he just crossed a line with a man that he’d never thought to cross before, but it doesn’t. Instead, for the first time in the nine months he’s been here, Riley feels right about something.
