Well, to start off, Daria was born. On November 10th, at 3:45 pm, she came out beautifully, weighing 7.5 pounds and measuring 19 inches. It was, in my small experience, a perfect birth, as she was born in four pushes, a total of fifteen minutes. She's absolutely gorgeous, with delicate features, blue eyes and blondish hair.
Malek's been a great big brother, constantly showering her with love and songs, and not even showing signs of jealousy. Louise-Josée came out of the birth fully intact but the whole "having to wake at night to feed the baby" has been draining her of energy. We had her ears pierced before her first month, and is now sporting some rather classy earware.
My internship at Canonical ended on December 17th, with two potential jobs available for me. Overall: I loved my time there. I learned to use Python, the Bazaar revision control system, using ssh and scp and the bug submission procedures. I've made unit tests for Ubuntu's benchmarking software, ISO tests for the first Alpha release of Lucid Lynx, and participated in a couple of meetings where I apparently made a good impression. The only ways the internship could have been better is if I were paid or guaranteed a job, and really, it was still an awesome experience.
Christmas swag! This year, I was again spoiled. I recieved the collector's edition of Assassin's Creed II along the walkthrough (even though I don't use it), "La Pendule de Foucault" (Foucault's Pendulum) by Umberto Eco, Dragon Age: Origins and the Rock Band P-Bass. I'm enjoying Assassin's Creed even if it appears to suffer from toomuchtodoitis, haven't tried Dragon Age yet, started reading La Pendule de Foucault, which appears to be as intellectually wordy as a Jules Vernes novel, and the P-Bass has some flaky connection issues, though they appear to be stabilizing. Maybe.
Overall, a good end to a decent year.
