irony

i find it kind of ironic how one article i read said that they captured saddam w/o firing a shot
why did so many people die then while they were looking for them if they didnt have to use any violence when they caught him...

That was one of the stupidest things I've heard all day. It's called an iraqi army trying to protect their 'leader', that's why violence was used.

if you're gonna come in and criticize what i have to say you couldve at least left your name
and if the iraqi army used violence to protect their leader, why was any violence used when he was caught? obviously you do not know the meaning of irony

It wouldn't be "heard," it would be "read."

Also, you support your argument, but I don't think it should be in a valley girl way.

haha and obviously the person who responded to my entry did not understand the meaning of irony
bascially the whole war was pointless and all of the deaths were uneccesary

ha yeah i dont think they did understand it. although i dont think the war was pointless, cause without having a war we would have never found him.

First of all sweetheart, the reason I am posting anonymously is because I don't have a journal, and I was just browsing around. If I put my name, you wouldn't know me anyway. I don't even know you, so it is irrelevant to what I’m trying to express. I was just trying to state that people should have more respect for what's going on than some of the comments you've made. "The war was pointless", well, imagine living in Iraq before all this went on. I'm almost positive that those people will be living improved lives than under statute of a dictator. Second, I do know what irony is, and that wasn't irony anyway. You weren't there, you don't know what happened, either do I, but I'm pretty confident they had a good reason for not killing Sadam. I am not saying that violence is a good thing by any means but if we didn’t enforce in an aggressive way throughout, a lot more of our men would have been killed. All I am say is stop being so ignorant and ethnocentric. Have a good day.

Just because we think the war is pointless doesn't mean we don't support our troops there. I have had to tell my family many times that the people there need our help and I've had to argue with people many times about the reasoning for the war. That doesn't mean I support it and that doesn't mean I have no respect for what's going on either. She found it ironic, big fucking deal! Just as you said, you weren't there either, so don't pass judgment on people's opinions about it; No one was passing judgment on yours.
And how is she being ethnocentric by stating her opinion in her own journal? There were no discriminatory statements saying "those towel heads deserve what they have" as society would say. She didn't say we should shoot him either, she just said it was ironic that the one man we're all killing each other over is the one man who stays alive through it all. If you ask me, I'd say it was Karma that he's still alive to see the devastation he caused, like he would care anyway, and to face the punishment he deserves.

and to anonymous poster-i never said i dont respect the troops, my cousin is a marine and i care about him very much, and i know lots of people also have family in the armed forces, so i in no way can ever say that i do not respect the troops. they are doing their job. by the way, and you know that even though we are trying to help iraq because they needed it, there are also a lot of people there who worshipped saddam so how can we be sure that there may not be a backlash? just a thought..
