So, the search for the perfect color has started. Not just one color, but one color for each room. So far the colors are TOTALLY different than at Home Depot - which is why we picked up a variety of colors.. :)
The plan is to look at and finalize colors soon, then get quart sizes of paint for samples. Mom's tip - Behr (from Home Depot) will allow you to return quarts of paint if the color isn't right. This doesn't mean that the color doesn't match the swatch, but if the color you picked just doesn't work in your space. They will exchange that for another one. Mom said she went through 4 quarts until she found the right color...
We are no going to paint until after pennsic, but working out style and patterns (in the two bathrooms) and where we want the mouldings to go, fixtures, possibly rugs... Thats the plan for this fall... :)
This is one of those areas, that I know what I want, but not how to get there and then comes my husband - the artist- that can look and tell specifically which color would go well where and, low and behold, he is correct. I can't wait!
Another joy on this is that this is our (James and mine) first attempt at color for any walls we've ever lived within. We'll learn this together and see where it takes us. All I know, is that I've had to live vicariously through my mother when she first put color on the walls of her home (earlier this year) and her trials and tribulations of finding the color, covering all with tarps, taping, taping, and more taping. In less than a year, she's painted her ENTIRE home. From the living area, kitchen, formal rooms, and she just got done 3 weeks before with painting her bedroom. Now its my turn. We do not have similar tastes in paint color, but both tend to go for an entire saturation. She's very much into the browns and neutral colors where as we have gold, red, blue & green as our selections.. :)
