That's exactly what happens. The older you get, the less there is to open. Although that wasn't true today. My father out-did himself by bringing two enormous sacks of gifts back from the Philippines.

What was strange was the fact that he bought some pretty decent stuff. DVD boxed-sets, toys and, of course, The Corpse Bride. Which he said he picked because 'it looks like the stuff you draw'.

And, yes. Those Sunshine Buddies have been looking at me a bit funny today. The continual nodding starts to get a little unnerving after a while...

I can imagine that being like a scene from one of those soft and slushy Christmas films where at the end, everyone's heart melts and it ends up being a glorious, perfect family Christmas :)

My Dad's gift buying policy is 'to buy something that that person would not necessarily buy themselves', this means he never buys things that people ask for because its too predictable. Alas, every year he asks me to write the things down that I want and every year I fall for it. Next year I'm going to write down the things I don't want and hopefully he'll fall for it.

I ended up buying him Enya (amongst other things) that'll teach him.

But boo to you and your box sets... the only one I received was from my friend Hannah and that was the scary movie trilogy lol.

It was one of the better Christmases we've had in a while. Although it's been a while since we were all together for the holidays so I guess we were all making a special effort.

I never know what to buy for my dad. Whatever I get him it he always seems nonplussed. Over the years I've bought him DVDs, CDs, Books, Artwork, Food, Wine... yet he never seemed happy. Funnily enough, last night he mentioned that he's always wanted a tortoise. Hmmm...

I'm not 100% sure of the quality of these boxed-sets. They don't look like the official versions to me :P

awww luridmist is such a cutie!

you can never have enough power tools! My mum thought she had to buy someone at her work a router as a leaving present. She thought it was a network router, but actually it was a router and weighs a fucking ton (allegedly!)
I have always dreamt of an orbital sander, just to say I have one! I don't actually want to use it! or my parents would make me sand all our crappy looking wooden floors in the ground floor of the house!

My sunshine buddies got packed into the big boxes to be moved yesterday - no more nodding for them for a while. Be nice to yours!
