well its been absollutly great out here... not much snow the first couple of days, actually a clearer sky then i have seen in the mtns in a long time, same with a lot of people... its actually be great, we can see where we are going...
panorama lacked a little snow.. but was good none the less, minus some rocks... ah well, its bc, and they are mtns of rock... but they really do need some more snow.. the mtn is probably one of the best i have ridden, it just lacks in the snow dept... very well laid out, and HUGE... like really HUGE...
on monday we skied kimberley, it was both kyle and i's first time there... good mtn, actually going to tell my parents about it, as i think the area would be a good little place for them to retire... did 6400 vertical meters, so that should be about 22 - 24,000 vertical feets, so a good long leg burning day..
yesterday (tues) was our day off, so we went fishing down on the elk river (ill show you the pics)... no catches, but they had plenty yesterday... in the afternoon we went and hiked the local ski hill the no longer runs (very often), and it was a bit bigger then asessippi, but powder the whole way down.. quite fun..
today was the first day @ fernie.. wow has that place gotten big since the last time i was there... but still the same old fernie :) all 613cm of snow so far this year (a base of 250cm)..
first off we did some nice runs thru currie bowl (www.skifernie.com for a trail map), and then did a little hike up a couple hundred feet of polar peak... got about 25 - 30 nice powder turns in :) then off to easter bowl... that was good... but the boots are still bugging my feat... custom foot beds here i come..
in the afternoon we ventured up the face lift and then proceeded to hike snake ridge to the top of ceader bowl... probably about 45 - 60 min of hiking... it killed me... wow altitude has quite the effect... but it was worth it for the 3 powder turns i got befor i fell...
no i didnt hurt my self, but a ski came off as i hit some really deep snow, and made me flip... i look back up to see my ski flying down the hill towards me, past me, and down the bowl... (eventually to find out it went all the way to to the bottom of where we hiked from)... so i am stuck with one ski in waste deep powder..
eventually i figured out that i could make big arching turns and go the rest of the way down... but what a waste, all that hiking and waste deep snow for nothing! maybe tommorow...
the rest of the day was spent playing, finding natural hits to jump, and then coming home for dinner..
well that should have you almost upto date as to how things are going till this point... ill keep in touch both via phone and email..
