Previous Chapter "Hm...That is troublesome...." A deep, husky tone said. The person was sitting in an office chair, facing the closed window, making it impossible for the person sitting across from him to see his body. The man in the chair was drumming his fingers on the desk, thinking intently. "S-shall I get the transportation ready?" The man squeaked as he adjusted his glasses, staring at the back of the leather chair. "Yes...Get it--"
The door to the office rammed open as the door collided into the wall, resorting in a loud bang. Jessica stepped into the office, a brown bag heaved over her shoulder. The chair creaked as it rotated fully, until the figure in the chair was revealed. A man, probably in his 20's, sat upon the seat. He wore a blue, silk robe with a black cat-like mask covering the top half of his face. The mask contrasted to his hair, which was a blinding blondish color. "Ah, if it isn't my precious Kitten. Did you bring the trophy?" Jessica grimaced at the sound of 'Kitten' used as a name, as she took another step forward. Removing the load on her shoulders, she carelessly dropped the bag onto the desk, a small thud echoing in the silent room.
"Where's my pay?" Jessica asked in a monotone voice. A chuckle emitted from the masked man as he pulled out a silver case from underneath the table. "Only concerned about your allowance, aren't you?" She did not answer as she snatched the briefcase when her eyes caught sight of it. Finding no point in staying any longer, she bowed to the man, and exited the room.
She turned left as she closed the door behind her, and after three steps, a voice ringed in her ears, "So, what did Head Sphinx say?" Yuri popped to Jessica's side and glared at her. The man in the robe was known as Head Sphinx in the Sphinx clan. Why? For one thing, it's because no one even knows his real name. He also never removes that mask of his. With his attire, everyone felt an eerie aura from him. A mysterious figure he was, but he treasured his workers; especially the Black Cat. The Head Sphinx is the one that personally train the Black Cat to become cold-blooded killing machines. So even though Head Sphinx had spent 8 years training Jessica to the person she is now, she felt an unknown hate towards him.
"Hellooo?" Yuri waved a hand in front of her face.
"What?"
"I said, did the Head Sphinx say anything?"
"Why would you care?"
"Fine, excuse me for being curious..." Yuri scoffed as she skipped a little bit in front. Jessica stopped when Yuri blocked her way. "Say Sica, are you busy?" The two stopped in front of an elevator of the building, as Jessica pressed the button going down. "No..... why?" The elevator quietly beeped, as the numbers grew higher and higher.
"Well, I was just wondering if.... you would...um..." Jessica arched an eyebrow as Yuri began fiddling with her fingers and staring intently at the ground. "W-Would y-you go on a d-date.... with me?" A loud ping! Sounded as the metallic doors slid open, revealing a small interior. "No." Yuri looked at Jessica with wide eyes. The answer had been said so straight-forward, no thought put into it whatsoever.
Jessica made her way into the elevator, leaving Yuri where she was standing. She glanced at the latter still standing at her spot, tears flowing down her cheeks. "Why?" The girl's voice shook as she gazed at Jessica, who motioned to press a button. Jessica wore a plain expression on her face, and simply said as the doors began to close, "Because, I don't like pain."

The trees shook as the winds sung peacefully. Glowing beams of sunlight were shining brightly, no clouds in the baby blue sky. Jessica climbed a small hill, her foot softly padding the dry grass underneath. Her arms cradled a huge bouquet of flowers, the petals moist since it was recently purchased from a flower shop. Her eyes scanned the area, noticing that some trees had grown taller since the last time she had came here. A small grin surfaced on her face as she spotted a familiar site. Quickly hopping over several gravestones, Jessica kneeled down before three small gravestones, all lined up next to each other. She caressed the smooth surface of each stone, before remembering the flowers she had brought.
She carefully split the bouquet so there were three halves and implanted them in the ground in front of each grave. Sighing, Jessica planted herself in front of the middle grave, so that she was in the middle. "Hey guys.... Sorry I wasn't here yesterday. I was.... busy with other things." She whispered as she stared at all three graves, last night's events playing in her mind. This was tradition to Jessica. Every year on April 13th, she would visit her family's grave, and talk about her current life and rant on about how she will get revenge for them. However, today, she felt oddly empty. No words formed in her mind; she was blank.
Most times, she would have a question to ask her deceased family. By asking questions, it was like her family were alive and helping her cope with her pain and loneliness. A tear trickled down her cheek, and splashed onto her mother's grave. Wiping the water away from her eyes, Jessica sniffled and pondered over a question. "Will I ever find happiness with you guys gone?" she blurted out of random. Well, it may have not been random. The murder of her family traumatized her for life. It was hard for her to trust others, and it was hard for her to obtain happiness. She was scared of the pain that wrenches at the heart so mercilessly. It was better for her to never receive happiness, than to receive it and then lose it.
A wind blew hard, making Jessica shield her eyes, so debris wouldn't fly into her eyes. When the wind had died down, she glanced up and smiled. At this point, she would always imagine her parents and sister standing there before her. This only occurred when she asked questions. She could imagine now: Her father going 'HWAITING!', Her mother hugging her, encouraging her to do what she believes is right, and her sister not paying attention, even though she cared on the inside. Standing up, Jessica brushed the dirt off her pants, burning the picture of the graves in her mind. "Thanks guys, I'll be sure to visit sooner than next year."
Jessica flinched when she spotted a man kneeling before her. He was wearing a white cat-like mask; only Head Sphinx's personal henchmen wear them. "Black Cat, Head Sphinx summons you. It concerns your next mission."
