allright so i just returned from watching "The Passion of the Christ", on a scale of 5 i give it a 4. I think the flick is a brilliant piece of work, but it isnt an enjoyable movie experience. As you've all heard of it, the movie is nothing short of a blood bath from beginning to end...and it really IS a blood bath. I cannot help but feel that Jesus is a punching bag from the beginning of the story to the end, he is consistently pushed around wtithout mercy and forced to endure tireless acts of inflicted torture and pain. I mean honestly i could say that the movie feels VERY overlydramatized...i mean sure this all supposedly happened but no one can know for sure. From beginning to end the Jew people were portrayed as nothing short of merciless monsters...and im sure this is nothing against the Jews mind you, but Jesus was very rarely portrayed in a positive radiant light but a sympathetic symbol. The torture was so great that you find yourself thinking..."ok...they cant possibly do anymore...how can a person withstand this?" and of course Gibson has only started adding fuel to the fire. Though i can say that i thought the movie, was very brilliantly made...it portrayed Jesus's death in a sense like reality. We can feel the pain and see the blood and it makes it 10x's more real, of coures the theater was flooded with ppl bawling...and im the only one sitting there my eyes dry as sand trying to hear over the noise. I think it is a movie everyone should watch at least once in theaters...it is very touching and very very well done. Probably the part that touched me the most was the flashback of JEsus as a child and the virgin mary shielding him from all fears. The movie did a great job in its message: JESUS DIED FOR OUR SINS, everyone who watches it...christian or not...will be changed i think. That or they will develop a deeper respect or bond for our holy father.
