wow. it's been a while since last writing in here. finished up summer school, and just got my history grade back today. hm...so, the class i thought i would do really really well in (IDS with the easiest final ever) didn't go so well. especially since i got like solid b's on my assignments. forgot that that would add up to about 50% of my grade. :P and my history final, which was...ok but not spectacular actually went really well. seriously, whenever i think i do really well in a class, it means i didn't do so good. i suck at trying to guess my grades. but that's a small part of my summer now.

last week was camp, where i counseled 7 high school girls. very energetic, and talkative in their own ways about different topics. i think i saw more straighteners and make-up around our bathroom sink than i've ever seen in one place outside of the store, but despite the clear differences between their getting-ready schedule each morning, each girl was a blessing to me. i was able to see how God still works in their lives, even though other things fail them; boys, parents, friends, themselves. and how they would get up and still worship God despite definite hardships. i don't think i've fully comprehended all that happened last week, but i'm still in the process.

can't believe i still have more than a month of summer school left. yesterday i got a pedicure, and ako got a manicure. hopefully this stuff lasts until stephen and paige's wedding, as the color matches with my dress. going to sacramento/reno before ako heads back to school.

i'm actually looking forward to going back to school this fall. for one thing, randy'll be there, and i can show him where all his classes are, and be able to see him walking around campus (which might also feel really weird at the same time). death cab for cutie is playing at ucla right before i head back, actually on ako's birthday. i told her that i would go there and let her hear the concert through my cell phone (she can't go b/c it's restricted to ucla students). she didn't like that idea, so i'll be home on 9/25. :)

even though i complain about school, i think i still enjoy being a student. i can't believe that i'm already entering my senior year! val was right: the time really does fly by. and now, i'm not really sure what i'm going to do afterwards. my parents are pushing nursing school, and that's one of the only options i've semi-considered lately. my mom set out all of my bio and chem books (things i haven't touched since...freshman year?) so that i could study them this summer. around me i see peers researching grad schools, taking their GREs...and it feels like i've still got all the time in the world to get started on that stuff, though i don't. i guess i'm just in denial. sometimes it feels like growing up happened way too fast. taking that ids class this summer, i wish i could be a professional consultant on development - "stop trying to pay back debts and accruing more debts, and just increase spending on education and health care!!" ...if only it were that easy. i like reading about it, talking about it, debating it. but it seems like this aspect of my interests have been put on the back burner - that i need something marketable to the public, and nursing is just the thing because it pays well and there's a high demand for it. so i dont' know what i'm going to do, although i should probably start sorting things out soon.

wow. long entry.
