Been A Long Time

Geez... Life has been hitting me hard these past 2 years. There are some things I don't want to remember and it might take awhile for me to forget... But anyway, I've been so busy with life, I hardly got to go on here. Just recently, a funny incident happened. Hope it never happens again. XD

On Wednesday, 8-22-18, I dropped my dad off at the airport at 6:30am and then quickly drove back home to prepare to go to work at my usual time. While driving back home through traffic, for some reason, my gut instinct told me that my dad may have forgotten something. But I blew it off because my dad is always very diligent and prepared when he travels. When I was about to leave for work, I heard "ding ding" noises that I usually hear from my dad's phone and shockingly found it left behind in my dad's room. There was only about 50 minutes left before my dad's flight. I knew that my dad didn't know my phone number or my siblings and he didn't know the person in Cali's contact number either. Stressed and worried, I had to contemplate whether to go straight to work and let my dad figure it out on his own or drive back to the airport. I hopped in my car and I called my boss. He said to go for it and that it was okay for me to be later for work.

I drove to the Terminal 1 airport as “safely” and as fast as I could through traffic again, got there, but the parking ramp was almost full, so I had to park far and sprinted from one end of the parking ramp to the other, all the way through the skyway, and down to the United checking-in area. I asked the lady at a kiosk if a personnel could pass the phone to my dad. She said she could only print me a gate pass, but I would still have to go through security and it was already around boarding time for my dad. Luckily, security check was fast and I just bolted to gate E6, hoping it was nearby.

When I got to the gate, the seats were completely empty, the door was closed, and the plane was already about 8 ft. away from the jetbridge. I asked the guy at the gate desk if there was any way I could give the phone to my dad because the plane was still parked there and he said, "No, I'm sorry. Everyone is already on board and the door is closed." Cue sad slowmo walk away. But then the dude called me back and said he could attempt to pass the phone through the pilot window. He asked for my dad's name and the next thing I knew, they slowly moved the jetbridge back towards the plane, I saw the pilot open his small window and he stuck out his arm to reach for my dad's phone. I texted my dad to take a selfie to let me know that he got the phone and he did, saying he owes me big time. I just texted him joking that he should never do this to me again and to not forget his phone and wallet in Cali. XD Mission accomplished. I had one heck of a workout that day because of him. Lol.
