I was told that, at Globe, there's an unwritten culture of wearing either of these two work outfits: (1) blue shirt and black pants; or (2) short-sleeved white kusot mayaman barong. I was also told that some people from the Multimedia Business Group started wearing their tailored tops more when I joined the team. I've been going to work with my usual tops with our without a tie matched with my slim fit black jeans (normall a big no at Globe).
People have so gotten used to seeing me go to work in tailored tops that when I first wore a barong, though with a Cuban twist (four pockets in front with lots of pleating), they got shocked. I had different barongs made in different styles: polo jacket in cream and black, that Cuban style barong in lavender, normal short-sleeved barong in white, and a very executive looking type barong in white (ergo, long sleeved!)
Wore it to work today since I reckon I'd be attending a Quarterly Business Review presentation of Gerry Ablaza, our President and CEO, and another meeting with him for a secret project we've been working on + of course the fact that I know that this attire would definitely shock the hell out of my colleagues. So, this is a rare shot of me considering that I don't really wear this on a daily basis. I look different - definitely older and novel! So ladies and gentlemen, here's Uncle Pao in a barong! :o)
