Back from small road trip to nation's capital (ie/ Ottawa).

I have a sneaky suspicion if I don't do this post now I will get lazy later and won't, and then I will be all "heeeeey I wonder what happened on my road trip I don't really remember" when I could've posted something about it now so that I can look back at this later.

Maybe you might like it too! Although if you've seen Outlet Malls, Algonquin Park and Ottawa then this is like the boringest picture post ever. Here's a giant dragonfly from Algonquin Park, obviously well-fed and benefiting from the abundance of the Cursed Blood-Sucking Mosquitoes from Heeeell.

First Stop: Outlet Mall

There is really no point to these pictures in the grand scheme of Canadiana as outlet malls litter this country from east to west coast and the US has better ones to boot. However I had a pressing desire to document "Seduction Time", which sounds like the title to a song that the Flight of the Conchords would write, sung in the same manner.

I think I know why these are in an outlet mall and discounted even further down from their original outlet mall price. The Canadian people are just not ready for sexy Seduction Time, especially if it involves melted wax.

Guess what store this was in?

Black & Decker!

Rawrrr.

Algonquin Park

Trees! Water! Trails! Mosquitoes!

Algonquin's real purdy. And agressively mosquito infested, insanely so. I could hear them buzzing and bouncing off my pulled-up hoodie. Despite my bug-sprayification I got three bites. Mosquitoes = 3; Erica = 0.

That last photo is from the motel we stayed in right outside the park, although not that the warning really mattered since we didn't have a hair dryer. There was a restaurant across the street that contained each of the following:

a) A diner/counter
b) Truckers
c) Country music
d) Homemade pie

It was like stepping into every stereotype of a small town that you hear about but don't believe in. And then one day, you're there. So much for not believing the hype because the hype? The hype will punch you. IN THE FACE.

Ottawa

Spent a day meandering our way over to Ottawa. Changing of the guard was viewed around parliament (which I tried unsuccessfully to pinch) where I had a view of perambulatory dashing red uniforms topped with furry hats and was regaled by the sound of a marching band and bagpipes.

Church-y times at the bottom photos - a Canadian version of Notre Dame.

All in all, awesome relaxing times. We totally meandered our way to Ottawa, stopping at towns that got progressively smaller and smaller, the smallest probably Douglas with 200 people. Less people than my high school. Criz-zazy.

Fun times, eh!

bon voyage : roadtrip, bon voyage
