Shopping shopping shopping
CK is catching...we went on stealth mode on Christmas Eve night to capture some really good Boxing Day deals online. =D
I was on the FutureShop website and CK was on BestBuy. 5 minutes before 8pm...I saw that I was able to "add to cart"...so I was able to get ahead and grab an i7 2nd gen Lenovo laptop for $599. The only blah thing about it was that it was "refurbished"...but in the end I decided if I was able to purchase it...it might be worth the risk because it was a really good deal. I had already set up my profile with the shipping, billing and payment info...so it was smooth sailing. It wasn't as crazy as I expected. I was probably in the top 5 to have had my order processed. It took about one hour for all 80 of the laptops to be purchased later on. I had thought it would have gone by faster.
Anyways...that was where my luck ended. Over the past three days until today...for some reason FutureShop couldn't process the credit info (I think they have a super super sensitive system) ...I had to call MBNA because that failed transaction froze the card (!!!) ...call FutureShop...kept on getting e-mails saying payment didn't go through despite double-checking all the info...FINALLY changed payment method to AMEX ...same thing happened again...called FutureShop...double-checked info again...SUCCESS finally. (Also had to call AMEX to make sure card didn't get frozen...like our MBNA card...which totally messed up CK's Boxing Day shopping yesterday).
But before the FutureShop fiasco...I bought my WACOM Create tablet + wireless kit on Amazon.ca...hehe. And I also was able to score the $99 LG 21.5in LED monitor online at Staples. =D (I am only sad that I wasn't able to buy the $29 16 sheet cross-cut paper shredder!!) And there ends my shopping spree. Honestly...I am not a crazy shopper...not like CK. Haha. I am not crazy enough to go out and line up at 3am for 4 hours. But that's what he did with his best man Kruger...and he was able to buy all the parts for his 'dream' hard drive. In his defence...he hardly buys anything unless it is a good deal...so I trust him to buy whatever he wants because it is hard for him to part with his money...haha. XD We are very same in that aspect.
Oh...and yes we did go to Buffalo with two of his ex-coworkers on the Dec 1 weekend...we mostly bought sportswear (shoes, athletic wear, etc.) Everything is cheaper in the US...gas, clothes, food, ...skates!! Lol. CK bought skates because we all had skates and he doesn't. =P So now we can all go skating this winter. =)
ANYWAYS...that should end my shopping of the year...haha...and for a very very long time. I now will have a 2nd laptop just in case mine dies soon (it is 6 years old and is stationary). CK can also use as he doesn't have a personal laptop anymore (it died). I have my drawing tablet (let's see what I can create...excited to see what I can do with it). I will have another monitor (good because my eyesight is getting worse I find...sometimes I magnify the page for easier reading).
