I got my CD in the mail today!

So, almost no one has ever heard of this band.

The year is 1997. I live in Long Beach, and listen to KROQ 106.7 like all the other cool kids. They had a promotion running where they would feature one CD a month, and for that month you could purchase it for $1.067. A little hit on the radio called "Cathy's on Crank!" by a band called Fluorescein was that month's album choice.

I think I bought it at the Tower records, but I can't be certain if that's where I got it. I know I didn't buy it at Blockbuster Music, we'd just go there to listen to music.

Fast forward to a day at the gas station, working the graveyard shift. I'd bring my CD collection to work with me, because the best part of that job was blasting music and mopping. In the morning when I got off from work, I opened up the booth, set my cd case down, turned around to pick up my jacket, then turned back to find my cds all gone.

I could not find a replacement for this CD for a long long time. Hell, internet searches couldn't even agree on the spelling of the band name or the song name. I gave up on it for quite some time. Until recently.

I jumped over to Amazon and on a whim found it for $3 something AFTER shipping! It's mine mine mine. Next on my list of old CDs to pick up is The Impossibles, an indie punk band from Austin, TX. The story of that CD is better. I'll tell it when I pick it up.

"Because this is all temporary, temporary, temporary..."

awesome
