So... (I really ought to start every entry like this)

So... I woke up at 7:54 for the third day in a row. I did some reading.

When I called Basil around just after Ten this morning, he had to wait for his mom to return to get permission, as she forgot her cell phone. Basil's dad called and asked me if I wanted to be in a car commercial, but we missed the shoot by a few minutes, so now y'all are gonna miss my cheesy mustache and beard in perpetuity on late night TV car adds. Sorry.

Anyhow, I went to Ocean's Twelve with my little buddy, Basil. B is the youngest jedi pimp I've ever seen. The kid has game by the pounds, knows it, and remains totally humble. Ocean's Twelve was really good. I haven't seen Ocean's Eleven, but my sisters say the sequel is superior, and Basil says it's nearly the equal. Memo: see Ocean's Eleven.

Then we went to my favorite hole in the wall Italian place, about six miles from the theatre. Il Guapo (Daniel) the old owner sold it to a man named Neil. I guess he moved back to Italy? Aside from not being called Rigazzo when I walked through the door nothing had changed... not even the Gnocchi. Apparently Dan gave Neil his secret recipe, which is an amazing act of selflessness. Considering that Neil is a carbon copy of Dan, only shorter, with a soul patch, and sans Italian accent, this is still stunning. Neil retains the same informal, jovial, eager manner, and cooks all the orders himself while stirring about the restaurant. The only addition is a slightly cheesy trifold advertisement for the espresso. The old Italian couples enjoying a late lunch were still in attendance, and that in and of overcomes any sadness at the change of ownership. If it's good enough for Nanu and Nana, it's good enough for Az.

Anyhow, on to the meal. First there was fresh baked bread, with fresh garlic butter. I think Neil puts in a loaf when he notes a diner has been seated. The loaf was round and small, and amazingly fluffy. The Garlic butter was understated and allowed the bread's full flavor to emerge. Just delightful. Secondly, the Gnocchi. Honestly, this stuff keeps me sane. The potato dumplings were rich enough to be savory, without being so rich as to punish one for their indulgence. Tremendously Magnificent. I can't believe it's been two years since I've been here. When my mom gets back in the country, after the arrangements for my uncle (pbuh), I'm taking her to Neil's. Lastly and not to be outdone, the cup of coffee I had was the single best cup I've had in my life. It was served 4/5 full in an oversized cup, black. No cream was offered, and raw sugar, sugar, and artificial sugar were proffered to the side in the standard, white ceramic sugar tray. I generally take my coffee with a dash of cream no sugar, but coffee this good does not deserve to be sullied with the trappings of lesser cups. Apparently it's a Kona variety, and the same coffee they've been using for years. But man... hints of many different tropical fruits, and maybe apple. Amazing.

So, B and I returned to his house, played Mario POWER Tennis. I redeemed myself for last night's 5-1 shellacking by winning 10 matches in a row, and beating Basil 10-3. It's about my boy parakoopa.

also.. I saw Luigi for the first time in a year. He's on leave from the Navy. They were in the very beginning stages of a Christmas party, and I think I'm going to return later tonight.

Okay, I need to pick up my little sister. More later. And someone needs to teach me to do the livejournal link thing to shorten my entries because I'm too lazy to look it up myself.
