10,000 hours to World-Class Mastery

Apr 15, 2007 11:47

In his This Is Your Brain on Music, Daniel J. Levitin says,
"The emerging picture from such studies [cognitive neuroscience research] is that ten thousand hours of practice is required to achieve the level of mastery associated with being a world-class expert-in anything."

So this makes me think... What have I spend 10,000 hours doing? Do I want to be world-class expert in that? What do I want to be world-class at??

hmmmmm
