if you start feeling not much like yourself
you look at the mirror at someone else
staring into foreign eyes, living in your disguise
wash your face and you start to fall apart
til there's five-hundred puzzle pieces on the floor
but you can't seem to put yourself back together
quite like the way you were before
take a bicycle ride around the town
away from the lazy locomotives and bustling crowds
skyscrapers echoing the sound of music ringing loud
fill your heart up with smoke, you're beautiful and stoned
we're skipping stones and dreaming of life overseas
listening to my father's old record collection
take me back to nineteen seventy three
back when people weren't afraid to love and live free
hand in hand we fall to the ground in laughter
and land on a bed of grass, taking refuge in the shade
the stump of a willow tree holds your head like a marshmallow pillow
i'm the king and you're the queen of this farytale inspired dream
and it feels like we're gonna live happily ever after
the sun is coming down
and leaving a trail of cotton candy clouds
for us to follow across the big blue sky
follow my lead girl, don't be shy
you haven't done this before
but neither have i.
the sky is the limit,
or so they say
but i'm gonna take you to dance
where only the stars play
